  • #28 Tulsa beat #19 SMU.  Tulsa and #7 Cincy are the top two teams in the AAC and due to the AAC rules for 2020 not only play Friday Dec 4 at Tulsa but would, in all probability at least at this point, play again a week later in the AAC Championship game.

Maybe we jump an idle Coastal Carolina this week with a nice win putting us in as the #2 Group of 5 team for now?

  • Appy State and Liberty still are scheduled to play Coastal Carolina, IIRC.  Need the have the AAC teams to be beat each other and we need to just keep winning and in the end lets see what happens!!  Anything is possible in this weird and wacky year!!

  • Yep, the get App State at home 11/21 and Liberty at home 12/05.  Two solid chances to knock them down a notch.

Still gotta take care of our own business.

  • Maybe, but outside of Army (w) and SMU (w) they have their toughest stretch still ahead of them.

  • Random thought and maybe not the right thread for this question, but what happens if a bowl eligible/playoff team gets covid and can't play? Will the team be replaced or bowls rescheduled?

  • OK, So ideally App State or Liberty beats Coastal and Cincy beats Tulsa at Tulsa but then loses to Tulsa in the AAC championship game.

This way Coastal and Tulsa are kept down enough to not make a major jump over us and Cincy is not a Gof5 conference champ.

  • App state opens at a 4 point dog to coastal.  UCF/Cincy is pick.  Big weekend for the Herd!

  • Wow!  UCF is picked by ESPN with a 56% chance to beat Cincy ?!?!?!?

I'd rather Liberty (not a Group of 5 candidate) to beat Coastal anyway.

Just don't want Tulsa to jump us.

  • Would love to see Tulsa beat Cincy in the CCG. Even better if UCF beats Cincy too. If Cincy goes undefeated then I hope they can somehow sneak in to the playoffs.

  • If they make the playoffs, that takes the Gof5 slot.  Only one Gof5 team makes the NY6 bowls unless more than one are in the top 10 or so.

This surprises me. I think Cincy by at least 10.

  • Just following articles and coverage MU probably peaks in the 12 range which is amazing.  You will see 2 loss P5 schools pass us.  I will take what has already happened with no complaints.  Hamrick has done well navigating covid with finding games and this team has come together and been responsible to each other.

I don’t know if anyone at the game payed attention but after so many kicks out of bounds Doc put in a new kick off man..he booted it to the end zone and at least 10 players went out of their way once he got to the bench to congratulate him...this group of players really seem to like each other .

  • App State QB was inured in the Georgia State game and was carried out in a stretcher. I hope he is okay.

I agree, we probably peak around 12th if we win out....BUT, it is possible to crack the Top 10.

Even finishing 15th would be incredible and set us up for a big year again next year.

This is our OOC schedule next year. Very possible to win every game next year. That would be incredible to have back to back undefeated seasons. We would finish around 10-15 again next year too. That is how we rebuild our brand.

    09/11 - NC Central
    09/18 - East Carolina

I think it's even better for us if App manages to beat Coastal. We don't have to worry about the Sun Belt champ if it's a team we beat. Plus, if App finishes the season with our game as their only loss, it's just going to make our case even stronger.
