  • Hate to see coastal drop. Punishment for not playing. I’m afraid it could happen to MU as the season starts to close down.

  • Unfortunately, can't see us moving up at all this year, pretty good to be where we are.  SOS won't give us anything, and we should be heavy favorites all the way through to a bowl game.  Keeping "0" in the loss column will be a challenge to even stay at 15, winning doesn't matter from here on out IMHO, only a loss does.

Only two G5s ahead of us, UC and BYU at 7 & 8; both getting chatter about being somewhere on New Years Day.  If we moved up, we'd have to be in that discussion to, and don't think anyone wants that (including other coaches from non AAC schools).

We can and will most likely move up to around #12 if we finish the season undefeated. That would be incredible and set us up for big things next season too.

BYU is not Gof5, they are independent.

  • The announcers include them in the G5 level of schools, but Herdmeister is correct, as well you are. The G5 is actually the five non-Power 5 conferences.  BYU can't be alloted the G5 spot because they wouldn't be a conference champion.  Liberty isn't G5 either.

  • BYU is basically the equivalent to the G5 as Notre Dame is to the P5 in a normal non COVID year.  They are a G5 independent as Notre Dame is a P5 independent

  • I think we are close to peaking.  There is nothing in our schedule to warrant really moving us higher in the eyes of most pollsters.  I expect we will continue to get jumped by 1 and 2 loss P5 teams.  I think the highest we could get would be in the 10-12 range after all the bowls are said and done.  MAYBE 8th if all the cards fall just right.

Herd needs an almost perfect storm in order to possibly continue to climb much in the polls.  First, we need to continue to win, that's a "no brainer".  Second, whomever we play in the CUSA championship game, probably UAB, needs to win out until then.  Third, we need some of the better teams we've already beaten, to win out through the rest of the season; particularly FAU and Appy State!!
