  • Could someone else provide more production.  I would say Taylor needs to be able to hold off Early for minutes?  But I do like the way Taylor rebounds the ball for a guard.  Needs to be a better passer and scorer.  Solid player.
We know the scoring gene is there. Being one of the most prolific scorers in Kentucky HS history.  He has given us some glimpse of it last year as well

  • Right now, this early in the season, we are 3-0, including TWO road wins in a row over better than average teams, so it just may be a tad "premature" to start throwing any HERD players under the bus!

If you are referring to me starting this thread, I certainly wasn’t throwing Taylor under the bus. I thought he was a valuable contributor last season.  I expected that again this year, plus more.  He just seems out of sorts early on.  I’m hoping he finds his place in the offense.  I like his game when he’s in the flow and present.  Hoping he starts finding a rhythm soon.

  • I would tell him two things. Take care of the ball and be the most aggressive person on the floor.  If he can do that the rest will take care of itself.

Agree.  He's playing very good defense just lacking points

He played Varsity as an 8th grader.  So no disrespect for his stats, but he was scoring for 5 years.

If Furman offered he must be pretty good. They have had a really nice team for a few years now.

  • I like Taylor. The ONLY change I would like to see is him driving/penetrating a little more. I think some of you are not appreciating what he brings to the team right now. He’s an all around solid ball player. We don’t need anymore Jon Elmore’s. I’m sorry, but I like the overall “team” ball better than the “me” ball.... a lot of that has to do with the overall make up of this team compared to when Elmore played.

Overall we are 3-0 and DD has this program headed in the right direction.

Again reading comprehension is hard. Nobody said he needs to be Elmore. He just needs more of his mental game. It amazes me some don’t want him to be better and just the decent player he is. All I’m saying is there is so much more talent in that kid to be released. Part of it is like you said, penetrating more. I would rather have 5 like west and Kinsey than just 2. And the comments about stepping on toes is ridiculous. If you are worried about that then you have teammates that are playing “me” ball or you need to realize you are part of the team after 2 years.

  • I predict that Taylor will have 2 or more games this year where he will score 20+ points and look like our best offensive player on the floor. One of the more promising things about this team so far is that they are playing decent defense and they have a number of players that have shown they can score on any given night.

Decent? Each of our 3 opponents shot only 38% from the floor and out rebounding them by 5 a game. Maybe a little better than decent

  • No one is throwing a player under the bus. My opinion and only mine is that he needs to sit a little and absorb the game. With George stepping up, I think HE needs to start. We're all on the same team and want success. Yeah, it's early in the season but Andy has been in camp for almost two years. I hope he plays lights out and proves my concern is unfounded.

I’ll politely disagree with you on this. You need 3 guys that can handle. The beginning of last year we were terrible until Andy got eligible for this very reason.

Yeah, that’s decent! But seriously, you are correct the defense has been very good so far.   I certainly hope we can keep it up. I think I was miserly with my platitudes based on my own prior year biases.

Also, I like George off the bench, gives a nice spark when we substitute and if by chance we come out flat he is the kind of player that can ignite a team when he's inserted in the lineup. A lot of time your 6th man plays more minutes than your 5th man anyway. So far that's been true this season as George has gotten more minutes than OBK

George has been great as the 6 man so far. Hopefully Williams keeps bringing it every game like against CoC and Obinna progresses quickly.

  • I think Taylor will be fine.  i like his humble personality.  he has a great recent past and present guard mentors and coach to learn from.  he's shown enough flashes to make me believe.  i hope his passing game/decisions mature quickly and i agree, it'll come if he continues to focus on the fundamentals of D, assists, TOs/margins, rebounds/off-ball play

  • As you can tell from the Ohio game, Taylor brings a lot more than just scoring.

This is what I was saying. He doesn’t have to score 20 points but just play loose and with confidence. He was great tonight. Very smart game. He makes us so much better if he just plays loose and goes for it.
