  • I would have taken that bowl and that opponent...that would be a game I would go to for sure if fans allowed.

  • LA Tech really does get some of the best bowl games in C-USA. They played and shutout Miami last year.

  • It is not surprising Marshall is going there. That game was too close to our championship game.  There was no way we were going to Play the 19th and then again on the 23rd.  Maybe the game in the 25th or 26th but no way the 23rd.

Heck at this point I hope we play in the championship game and a bowl game.

  • I have a feeling that The Herd may get a shot at a little better bowl game this year. I have already heard that BC has opted out of playing a bowl game this year even though they are eligible (6-5). I would bet money that many more teams will follow their lead and do the same. This will leave many bowl games from ACC and other leagues open for us to slide in to.

  • Hey, WVU's game with Oklahoma on Saturday just got the axe.  We'd better hope that we are able to play in the CUSA Title game next Friday, if indeed there is one.  Boston College just told the ACC, and anyone else who will listen, that that's it, their done with football this season, no more play, no bowl game, etc., etc.  Likely to see a lot more of similar moves by colleges before the first scheduled bowl game rolls around!!

They are playing TCU this weekend and accepted the NO Bowl.  Two different things.  TCU isn’t in the NO Bowl.

  • It’s in state for LaTech.  Usually I wouldn’t say that matters, but this isn’t a normal year.

Yes I understand that. But are you going to take a 4-4 team or a 5-4 team and put them ahead of an 8-1 Conference Champion?  There are a lot of bigger bowls that are going to be available and we should take advantage of that!

  • I also read that bowl tie ins were not sticking this year. The Boca Bowl is hoping for an ACC team. I believe I read it in the Palm Beach Post when UCF accepted the bid

Some of the bottom-feeder bowls from the Power-five conferences still pay out more than the top tier bowls for the G-5

It first comes down to conference tie in.
Example NO tie 8s is CUSA vs SBC. They can't take a MAC team over CUSA unless every CUSA team passes on it

  • Here is the article that says conference tie ins are waived this year due to the pandemic-affected season

    https://www.palmbeachpost.com/story/sports/college/football/2020/12/07/ucf-football-accepts-invite-boca-raton-bowl-could-face-acc-school/6478155002/

    Quote
Conference USA teams have won five out of the six Boca Raton Bowls, with FAU winning two of the last three, but likely won't get a team in this year's edition.

The traditional conference tie-ins have been waived in this pandemic-affected season, and the Conference USA championship game is scheduled for Dec. 18, four days before the Boca Raton Bowl.

Recent bowl projections have forecasted a UCF-Liberty matchup, but the bowl appears hopeful it will land an ACC team.

With 9 bowls already cancelled, it limits the number of teams going of course. And the contracts will be thrown out the door. I can see deals being made easily. Anyone bowl director would rather have a .500 SEC team than a 6-1, 5-2, 7-2 MAC, Belt or CUSA team.

    I agree and fingers crossed.

At this point, I wish the conferences would let the teams in their conference championship games go ahead and select their bowl. For CUSA for example, if they'd give UTSA and Marshall their picks now, one would think that UTSA would pick one of the Texas bowl games, or even the Independence Bowl over in Shreveport and MH would probably select one of the Florida destinations. IF that bowl is allowing fans, it would give the fans time to plan a trip.

Not sure a lot of fans would go regardless.
No bowl activity.  Go down one day play the next and go home

You never know and it will probably depend on where the bowl is located. If MU plays in one of the Florida bowls, and the game allows fans, I'm willing to bet there will be Herd fans in the stands.

Um, Tech down something like 30 at the half against TCU tonight.  Yet another example of the "caliber" of CUSA football.  Skippy Holtz's boys may want to forego a bowl and stay home to lick their wounds!!

No doubt. There were Marshall fans at all away games this year. Just not what bowl games usually attract
