  • A person who lives very near Doc's place told me his house sold recently. Is that true?

  • I think Lambert has done well with our defense but if Doc is done this fan base needs a fresh face leading our team...so many have asked for this.  Lambert is the safe call and is a good guy but it is time for an outside choice.

  • I do not like how this lingering question and no information can impact recruiting. Not a good look from the program.

If you hire a hungry energetic guy recruiting won’t be a problem. These guys have contacts already and guys they are recruiting. This program needs life and excitement. It’s been so many years that we had real excitement a lot of our fans weren’t even old enough. Yes it takes winning but it also takes swagger from a coach and a coach that exudes confidence thru out the fanbase. We don’t need a Marshall guy or a buddy of somebody coach. We need to go find the best most hungry young innovative coach out there that wants to make a name for himself and moves up in 4-5 years.

Agree 100%. For some reason after Donnan/Donovan left we got into this mentality that it had to be a Marshall guy or not do a real search, just hire the AD's buddy. We need to go back to how we use to do it.... Set up a committee and hire the best available candidate for the job.

  • The Marshall job would have widespread appeal to many coaches, especially the young ones in FCS. Get a young, cocky, offensive minded guy who has had success and you'll have a winner hire. The guy could excite the fan base and students - something the program needs badly.

  • Every 4-5 years we should be hiring a 30-40 something motivated young buck who wants a P5 job. If we ain't doing that we ain't going to be winning at the level we want.

We are doing it all wrong...Marshall should be the Urban Meyers of the world 1st stop and not the Doc Holliday's of the world last stop.

I'd rather go with someone like Clemson's offensive coordinator that has great ties to recruiting and have been around a winning program..

  • Fellows, when the "Gone Fishing" sign is nailed permanently on Doc's Office door in the Shewey, then ONE thing, and ONE thing only, will guide the "search" for his successor: $$$$$$$$$$$$.  Don't be surprised with whom we end up with, after Hamrick, and perhaps others in Old Main, have applied and followed Kayo Marcum's "Slow dime, Fast nickel" strategy!!

You may be surprised that some would rather take 800k to be in charge of their own team.
