  • I read ESPN bowl matchups and unless I missed it doesn’t show MU going to a bowl.  It has UAB and other teams all in bowls.  I know this is not realistic but I found that as a head turner.

  • We haven't accepted a bowl yet. Neither has UAB. I imagine they're waiting to see who wins the championship.

I know but they do show UAB in a bowl and not MU.

What bowl? CUSA is only showing FAU, North Texas, UTSA, and WKU. ESPN's schedule shows the same.

They're idiots.  One of their "experts" has for weeks picked us playing App State in a bowl 3 days after the championship game.  Lazy.

    Sounds like a projection.

UAB hasn't accepted a bowl. Only App State and Georgia State have accepted bowl invites from the Sun Belt. And the Cure Bowl hasn't announced teams yet.

Is a projection but ESPN doesn’t even show MU in any projection.

Unless I missed something, the Cure Bowl and the Birmingham Bowl are the only 2 that C-USA reasonably can expect MU and UAB to fill (other than the ones that already have teams set).  I expect MU to get the Cure, and UAB to stay home, but if something gets quirky (i.e. the ACC not having enough teams opting in to a bowl) then all bets are off.

There are the options. Some like Fenway were canceled though.

  • Several bowls will be selecting from a pool of teams. Hopefully with that MU can land in one of the following bowls: Birmingham, First Responder, Gasparilla, Independence, or Armed Forces. Those games have the best odds of landing a game against a Power 5 team.

  • There's still some combinations of Marshall/UAB and Coastal/Louisiana (along with a possible 6-0 MAC champ Buffalo) in the Cure and Camellia Bowls that are still options, plus the First Responders and maybe even Birmingham are in play.  I think you could see 4 of those 5 paired in Cure and Camellia Bowls, with one possibly ending up in ether First Responders or Birmingham Bowls.

  • Many of the projections have K-State in the First Responders Bowl and Tennessee in Birmingham. Those would be great match ups for Marshall. Playing a ACC school in Tampa would be a nice game too.

The bowl game in Charlotte is listing an ACC opponent versus an at-large team. A match up against NC State, Georgia Tech or Wake, in either Charlotte or Tampa, would be a good reward for winning the conference this season.

  • This is like 2014, on steroids.  Is it better to play a mediocre Tennessee or a #9 Coastal?  All assuming MU takes care of business on Friday.

I think more interest this time in playing a top 10 Coastal.

If given the opportunity, you play the Power 5 team. You can sell a win over a Power 5 team to recruits,, boosters,, etc.. No one outside of the die hard Marshall fans will remember the game against Coastal once the calendar rolls over to 2021.

  • Could be we refuse a bowl for financial reasons if the league won’t cover all the costs. Who knows

  • People need to go back and read the article.  It has us projected to play in a bowl that was already filled, and they haven’t updated the projection.

Only way we don’t go to a bowl is if we decide not to play.

  • Normally, rematches between teams in a bowl who met in the regular season are not common.  Why would we want to play Appy again and then, I believe, open the season with them next year?  I'm pretty sure we're scheduled to go to Boone in the 21 season, probably in early September.

  • CUSA teams must fill their contractually obligated bowls first. The remaining ones are Cure, Mobile and New Orleans. All vs SBC teams

Mobile and NO are already filled.  The Cure is a “pool” Bowl.

Cure, First Responder, Military, Gasparilla, or mystery bowl placement possible.

I believe it was in the different thread but someone posted a link to a news story where it explained how the majority of the contractual bowl game obligations were being tossed out for this season.
