The Sun Belt really improved their league by losing teams to CUSA and replacing them with better teams.

  • CUSA should have taken a few programs rather than looking at markets. Knowing the schools we did bring in don’t dominate their markets - not by a long stretch.

CUSA whiffed bigtime. The sunbelt went after quality “teams” and they passed CUSA by. Not only that but CUSA is poorly run and the football side has really degraded. ODU is worse now than when they entered the league. Mtsu has gotten worse. WKU has really collapsed. Charlotte has made small strides but they were starting out from scratch, not even having a football program. FiU can’t even field a decent team with Butch Davis and FAU had their 3 year run with Kiffen and are now heading back to reality. The West? Other than LT and UAB, who cares?

  • High expectations for championships.  Coaches that grind and understand this mentality.  You don't want to be the program that is not winning so either bring your A game or go elsewhere.  Creates coaching competition inside the athletic department.  Make no mistake, it feels good as a HC when you know your team is the best at the university.  High expectations, support, competitive coaching environment.

  • I really hope our next tv deal involves us getting our CCG televised on a major network. Everyone else plays on ABC, Fox, or ESPN, and then you have CUSA on a Friday night over on CBSSN. Meanwhile, Coastal and Louisiana get to play at 3:30 Saturday on ESPN. Little details such as this hurts badly when it comes to perceptions. It’s going to be really hard to lift this conference out of last place with these sorry media deals. It needs to be a major priority for Judy moving forward.

Amen. This ho-hum attitude of "at least we can see it" is not going to improve the media reach of this league.

You may want to consider this factor:  Coastal Carolina is in Conway, SC, about 15 miles or so from Myrtle Beach.  Marshall is in Huntington, WV, about 15 miles or so from "OUT WAYNE"!!  I'm sure a heck of a lot of those NCAA appearance athletes down at Coastal considered such geographic factors in picking the school!!
