  • Not even close to the same. Our football program has the best history, facilities, name recognition, and fan base in the conference. Our AD also gives way more support to our football program. In short, Doc is doing less with more.... DD is doing more with less.

Our facilities in football were tops when we were 1-AA and at the start of the MAC... that is no longer the case.  Have you seen the stadiums and facilities at other teams?  We are not better as the Joan is 30 years old now and needs upgrades.  Henderson Center has had new locker rooms and scoreboard in recent years.

You guys have fallen into the wo is me that Danny tries to convey.  Our arena is in line with what the Joan is to the rest of the conference.

Trying to win an argument with half truths may work when you’re dealing with the uninformed, but you’re on Herdfans buddy.

Yes, Henderson center has had a new scoreboard and locker room in recent years, but as I recall Vinny put in new locker rooms at the Joan and IMG gave the Joan new boards.  Meanwhile Doc is signing new players today while DD has been told, he can’t sign new players unless he pitches returning players.  Doc is making much more relative to the going salaries than DD is, and DD has contributed cash to his program, has Doc?

Docsuckers trying to say BBall is treated fairly in comparison to football are people showing they love Doc rather than they love Marshall.

This is so true. It would be nice if Hamrick gave Danny half the love he shows Doc. It even close. Danny has to fight for everything he gets while Doc just snaps his fingers. Yes wouldnt it be nice if Danny got to sign a couple recruits this year?

All parts of the university use the indoor faculty including cheerleaders, baseball and softball and track and field..it is not a football only facility...also, Mr Cline liked football and it was his money that built that facility.  Basketball was not a priority to him and he can spend his money the way he wanted to.

That would be you Danny apologists who try to create a narrative that does not exist.  I don’t see our basketball coach being named to any list or any other schools calling Hamrick to get permission to hire him away...

Instead of being happy we are having a good football season that has given our university positive publicity you basketball first guys were just waiting on a loss to pounce your negative spew.  Our coach gets named as coach of the year and you guys tear him down.  I would even bet that the same 5 of you guys are hoping we lose Friday and can’t wait to post.

  • Be interesting to read the spin if we get beat Friday. If we do get beat, it will be the biggest total collapse of a season in Marshall athletic history.

Boy you must have a very short time span for Marshall football history.  Let me introduce you to the long ago year of 2016 when MU went 3-9. A year in which the head coach, who ever he was at the time, was saying before the season that it was the best team he'd ever seen going into a year.

First off Danny is over 70 years old and he made it clear he will retire here and doesn’t want to go anywhere else. Doc has never been on anyone’s radar. Wonder why? Wonder why he never was offered a OC or DC position at any other school before coming here? If beating EKU and UMASS plus the little sisters of CUSA gets you a coach of the year award I could be up for one. Oh wait, he got shut out at home by a bad Rice team. Akron killed us at home by 30, WKU by 66-7, Cincy embarrassed us at home. Charlotte embarrass us when they were a laughing stock a few years ago at home. He has by far the most embarrassing beat downs at home than anyone.

I'm trying to think of another example of a top 15 team being shut out at home by an unranked opponent this late in the season and am at a loss. Those kinds of games usually happen early on the season and are based on pre-season rankings.

To be fair, it's not Doc's fault the team was so ridiculously overrated. The stars aligned to make that happen. But even a mediocre team shouldn't be subjected to that kind of humiliation. Rice isn't exactly Cincinnati, or even Louisville against our backup TE at QB.

The most ridiculous aspect of all of this is that all season, people here were sh**ting on Coastal, calling them overrated. Yet they won the games they needed to win and are sitting pretty right now. And then accusing teams of using Covid as an excuse to avoid their own Herd beatdowns. Yet, Doc did exactly the same thing against Charlotte, announced with the most suspicious press release I've ever seen.

Do we need to list the best downs Danny has had in conference and out of conference?  How about the biggest opportunity for a Herd fan on a big stage and getting blown out by WVU in the tourney.  Would have given MU lifelong fans major bragging rights in state and we get romped.  ...  wait for it. ...now you can come back with us losing to WVU in football in 2010 but at least we were leading and almost won verses getting blown out.

Hey I’m glad you are enjoying the Doc years. Hope you enjoy 11 more just like them. Oh and btw Danny did something no other Marshall basketball coach has ever done. What has Doc done except beat cupcakes? Dannys team did take down a top #15 whichita state team. And did you see the press we got from that. But I wish you 11 more years of excitement!!!

Nah, that debacle pails in comparison to being ranked 15th and unbeaten 3 weeks ago, getting national pub weekly and a QB getting national awards;  to possibly losing the last two games and losing the league title in the process. Talk about the bottom falling out. I hope to goodness we win and this doesn't happen.

Don’t you Docsuckers ever get tired of lying to defend your love for Doc?  Doc hasn’t been named coach of the year, he’s Region 4 COY, which makes him one of five in the running for coach of the year. It’s the first time he’s ever gotten that high in eleven years.  Let’s see where he finishes.

I don’t call folding up and losing an undefeated season to Rice as a good football season.  But, then choking on the big ones doesn’t seem to be a problem for you Docsuckers.

DUDE. WE. GOT. SHUTOUT. AT. HOME. TO. RICE....with one of Doc's "best" teams in a Decade.

Private School...Baseball First...11% Acceptance rate. 4.12 Average GPA RICE.

But sure...we are all just making up stuff to tear him down.

Once again Doc has zero quality wins outside of an average Sunbelt team.

  • Yes, but in another season or so with the same results in basketball shouldn't Danny's seat start warming up also?  All the golly gees, the yuk yuk sessions with fans, and the hillbilly tee shirts can only go so far.  No additional CUSA championships this year or next, and he's definitely sailing in Holliday waters, if not already in "Doc Country".  I mean 7, 8 or more seasons with NO wins over Major foes, 1 CUSA championship in a League whose basketball overall is considered barely over the level in which the League's football is held.  And some of the in season losses to some average Major foes, Illinois, Texas A&M, etc., are not the stuff to write home about and certainly don't indicate that we are anywhere close to being in among the nationally known, respected and discussed Mid-Major "elites".  Not even close!

  • Dude, there is no comparison here. Let's look at football history. Name one program in this conference who has better history, name recognition, facilities, and fan base? Don't worry, I'll wait.

Now do the same in basketball, and that's easy. WKU, Charlotte, UAB, MTSU, ODU, UTEP, all have better history, facility, and name recognition within the basketball world than us. The only thing we can compete with those teams in is the fan base/average attendance.

There is seriously no comparison here. We should cut $2 million out of the football budget and give it to basketball. We could probably build a legit basketball program if we did this. End result from football would be the same. We can still win 7-10 games, play in the cheetos bowl, and win 1 conference championship per decade even if we cut the budget by $2 million.
