  • IMO, That would be a doomsday scenario for Marshall Football. Alabama, Ohio State, Clemson, Notre Dame, Texas A&M, Florida, Georgia, and several other top tier teams would embarrass Marshall and almost every other G-5 school. This year Cincinnati may be able to play with the big dogs for a bit but Marshall, Coastal Carolina, BYU, and Boise St would all be thoroughly embarrassed. Those teams can compete, somewhat, with the next tier of Power 5 schools but those top teams are different. The lower level Power 5 teams would have a hard time competing against Marshall and that group of G-5 schools.

32 is too deep of a field. I'd be happy with 8 or 16. Occasionally you'll get a UCF, Boise State or maybe Cincy this year that will be in that 8 or 16 team field and will shake somethings up and make some noise. And really as a fan, that's what I want to see. I want to see those teams given the shot. Sure, just like in Basketball the Bluebloods are gonna pound their first-round opponent. Occasionally, but often enough to make it interesting UCF will beat an Auburn and go to round two where anything can happen.

  • Just out of curiosity... Does anyone have a list of P5 vs. G5 matchup results for BCS and Access Bowls? I can remember Hawaii, NIU, and Western Michigan getting their butts handed to them haven't things been more balanced in recent years with Boise, UCF, etc.?

  • To be a school like us you have to have everything go right. I think 1999 could have played with that group. I also think 2014 could have with a healthy Devon Johnson. Then again, I am often wrong.

  • 32 is way too many. Needs to be 16 with every conference champ getting in. That leaves 6 additional at large spots for P5 and Indy.

  • One factor, perhaps, leads me to question the 16 team and 32 team fields.  Buffalo at 16th and 24th in the respective polls. REALLY?

In the 32 team field, HERD 32nd, 8 slots below Buffalo?  Wow!  Bulls also ahead of #26 Washington and #27 Colorado of the PAC 12, #28 Liberty, #29 Oregon, another PAC 12 team, #30 Missouri of the SEC, and #31 Boise.  Again, REALLY?

Does anyone else see blatant favoritism/bias by ESPN, showing a lot of "love" towards its PET G5 league, the MAC, and its champion, Buffalo.  ESPN obviously repaying, in a non monetary way, its favorite mid week, Tuesday and Wednesday night little Pets!  You know, the League that collectively said "screw our fans and ticket holders", we'll play mid week night games in horrendous weather in November in Northern Ohio and Michigan and Western New York so that ESPN can can get a .00000001 share of the TV audience at that time of the year.

Don't know about you all, but I'll take most of those teams #s 25-32 head to head straight up against #24 Buffalo!

Coal, I do believe the bias that ESPN has for their conferences. But to be fair, has the CUSA  done very much this season to earn anymore respect?

No argument there.  But what has Buffalo done that warrants being rated over the Major teams I noted?  Other than, of course, being in the ESPN's "beloved" MAC?

Why worry about Buffalo, they're playing freakin' Ball State.  David Letterman made a fortune laughing at how bad his school was in Football.  His school being Ball State.  I mean the MAC is a joke school playing a school that was a standing joke.

History lesson:  ESPN hardly knew the MAC existed back then.  Now that the League screwed their fans and play about half their games on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, ESPN luves em!
