  • When is the conference championship game? Is Marshall in it?

Little to not much discussion in this forum. Does the Herald Dispatch even exist?

Little to no publicity? Are they talking about it in the local news in the Tri-State? Is the flagship Conference USA doing marketing or promotion of the game? Have we finally arrived at no one cares?

What’s the game time forecast? How many fans will we allow in?

It’s a pretty good match up IMO. Am I the only one that’s excited?  Let’s get it fans! GO HERDs!!

  • HD has had a story about it each day this week. CUSA has had several Tweets and Facebook posts. WSAZ has had a couple stories on it. I would imagine the attendance is the same limited numbers. I see where Marshall is offering some seating that has become available.

  • I am looking forward to watching the Herd.  I don't know why but I am looking at it as another game.  I know I would be more excited if we were undefeated and Top 15 with a good schedule.  Then, I would suspect if undefeated and with a good schedule, we would actually be in the Top 10 with a chance at a big bowl game.

  • We are in the forgotten conference. USA Today's bowl projections don't include UAB or The HERD.

  • Wish this game was Saturday as it does not work for me on Friday being out of town.  Hope Huntington at least 10000 at the game and is loud..

  • Damn shame the game is on CBSSports and not ESPN or Fox. A lot of people don’t get that channel. Another reason we’re in a bush league conference.

  • Was thinking about this very thing today.  CUSA and Marshall marketing are dropping the ball.  The number of people allowed in the stands is limited but people are tired of being home and looking to be entertainment.  Great opportunity to do a little marketing, increase TV ratings and maybe parlay that into a little more money on the next TV contract.

Marshall sports coverage is practically non existent outside Huntington.

  • It's like if a tree falls in the forest and no one is there to hear it does it make a sound?

If Marshall plays in a championship game no one cares about beating a team no one cares about does it really matter?

This is why being nationally ranked and NOT getting blown out at Home to a team no one cares about is 1000 X more important than winning a championship in a conference no one cares about. Losing to Rice at Home with again one of the easiest schedules in college football...is the equivalent of finishing the regular season 6-6.

Going undefeated this year would be the equivalent of going 8-4/9-3 in the AAC...fan excitement wise.

It's crazy Marshall can't even get the COVID max...12,500 or whatever to a CHAMPIONSHIP game. Doc is the luckiest son of a gun in college football. If he stays and there is no COVID...we'll average 12-15k at home next year.

  • I was thinking the same thing today.  I have been anxiously checking the site all week hoping that I do not see a thread on how FAU is taking our place in the game because of COVID.

Also, no news on injuries or COVID positives and who may be out.

  • I do not and will not care until we get a new coach. Will I watch? Yes. Will I change my daily/weekly schedule/plans around to make sure I can attend/watch Marshall football? Not a chance.

  • We should have a book signing tomorrow night. "How to Suck the Life Out of a Fan Base" by Doc Holliday, preface written by Mike Hamrick. Maybe we could get 8k-9k to show up.

    Yeah, sort of.
"National TV" only with added sports tiers with most cable but not available at all with the most popular OTT streaming service.
    CBSSN<<FS1<ESPNU<ESPN2<ESPN.

Right only around 61 million  households...

As of May 2015, CBS Sports Network was available to approximately 61 million pay television households (66.1% of households with cable television) in the United States.[1][2]

I'd put FS1 ahead of ESPNU.  79M homes vs 62M homes.

Not sure about every provider but on Suddenlink ESPNU is on the extra digital sports tier with CBSSN. FS1 is on basic expanded with ESPN and ESPN2.

Yep. Every conference championship will be on network TV except the MAC, Sun Belt, and C-USA. And the MAC and Sun Belt will be on ESPN.

So what’s your opinion on what our next media deal should look like? The MAC and Sun Belt have already taken up the weekday and only weekend ESPN slots that we would stand a chance of getting, Both those conferences are locked into long term deals too, so CUSA isn’t getting any of that action.

Imo, it would really be nice to go with someone like NBCS as long as our CCG is on NBC, or something like that with Fox Sports 2 and our CCG gets on FOX. Then push whatever games we can’t get on linear tv to ESPN+.

  • We've wanted championships, chances to play for them. Now we have it, and nothing changes about the complaining.

We get a great championship game slot on national TV, and some challenge whether or not the media outlet is good enough.  Nothing changes.

My point is very simple, it seems to me that it isn't a winning, recognizable, high integrity program you want.  It is merely the dismissal of one man; even though the program consists of nearly 150 people.

Oh well, perhaps we lose, and everyone can say "See, I told you so."

I'll be rooting for a victory, regardless of who our head coach is, and I'll be watching it on CBSSN, even if it isn't on ESPN.  And tomorrow morning we'll still have a CBSSN agreement, none with ESPN, and Doc will still be head coach.  So for many, tomorrow will still be as dissatisfying as today, regardless of the outcome tonight.

Couldn't we just be hopeful and supportive for just one day, a day we have been waiting for for six years?

    Fire away.

There is noting I want more than to win tonight and next week in a bowl game. Then for Doc to ride away into the sunset with his championship. It would also be ok if his buddy the AD rides off with him.
I too will be watching on CBSSN
