  • That is a super late cancel.  Time to realize 80% of us are going to get covid as it just spreads so easily.  The masks may help but my family wore masks in public and we had covid in our home.  No symptoms or issues but we still got it.

I was looking forward to watching that game.  I hope teams are now not just using it as a reason not to play.  I have seen Louisiana play a couple of times and they are a tough out.

Fingers crossed we play our game.

  • That's a bad look. I think either Louisiana should be named Sunbelt champs or whoever is second in that division should have to step in and replace Coastal.

  • I'd say odds are high that we play one or t'other in our bowl. But I'm in no position to know, if anyone is.

Cdc estimates 8 times as many people have had covid than we have positive tests for. Live your life people and move on

  • If CCU players just tested positive they may not be available to play us in a bowl on Dec 26.

It appears that it was one player and contact tracing took out a whole position group. 7 day quarantine could allow them to play next Saturday but that would be without practice.

While I am in the crowd that says continue to do things and be smart there (I went to multiple football games, etc) is still a time where a each situation needs to be looked at and when a whole group could be an issue you can’t play. There is no safety in that.  I don’t think CC is ducking anyone with all the positive press they have received and would continue to receive.

Who is to say we would have ended up playing then with teams dropping out of bowls left and right anyway.  We both could end up in bigger bowls.  This is an odd year any anything can happen.

  • If CC were to have lost the game, would they get into a lesser paying bowl with a loss on their record?

  • They're now saying they might just have Coastal and Louisiana play each other in a bowl game.

  • This has the feel of a proactive move to preserve Sun Belt rankings heading into next season.

  • SunBelt following the ACC lead by canceling the championship game "to preserve the integrity of the championship."

Some folks criticize Marshall for canceling the Charlotte game.  But here are 2 conferences that canceled their championship games.  The ACC for no apparent reason other than trying to position 2 conference teams to play in the playoff and thereby increase $$ going to the conference.  The motives of both the ACC and SunBelt are transparent.  The SunBelt and ACC could have easily followed the lead of other conferences and substituted another team for the team affected by Covid.  At the end of the day the fans and players are the real losers as a result of the money grabbing moves by the ACC and SunBelt.  Let'em play.

Notre Dame and Clemson are playing tomorrow.

And the conspiracy theories are outta control. I guarantee Coastal wants nothing more than to play this game. If they were leading the chase for the NY6 spot then maybe you could argue they were gaming the system.

Can I quote you to the two people I know whose parents died from Covid? I'm sure they'll be comforted.

Shows how much I follow P5 conferences.  So tired of watching and hearing the talking head discuss the same teams over and over and over and over.  Last I heard the ACC scrapped the championship game.  Thank you for the info.

I still think the argument for the SunBelt to game the system is legit whether Coastal was leading the chase for the NY6 spot or not.  Coastal still finishes the season undefeated and if they win their bowl game the argument is still there that they were undefeated and played more games than some other teams (OSU).

I'm glad to see several G5 schools make undefeated runs late in the season.  Exposes the bias and P5 advantage in the polls/rankings.  They get ranked even if they only play 5 games just because they are P5.  The P5 created their own problem this year by not playing OOC games or only a limited number of P5 games on their own terms.

  • I believe Coastal did this because they can win whatever bowl and will finish top 10 for the year.  Only about 6 teams matter to the national media and it became even more clear this year.

The Big 10 and the PAC 12 should not be eligible for anything.  Their seasons are truly a joke and they only jumped into play when the ACC, Big 12 and SEC were playing and grabbing the spotlight.

Just stop. People die everyday. If you want to live in a bubble then by all means do so, just leave the rest of us alone and let us live our own lives.

If not comfortable going out then you should stay in.  I am comfortable, had my immediate family have covid and it for most people is not an issue as it was not an issue for us.  I am more afraid of my teenage son driving than anything covid can do to my family.

Absolutely quote me.  It’s from the cdc. No where in my statement did I downplay the seriousness of the corona virus. Just that we can’t let it paralyze us and allow the govt to dictate our lives.  Now how old were that persons parents?  My guess is older than 70 since the majority of deaths are older since the average age of death is about equal
To the average life span in the US

  • I believe 4 or 5 ACC teams have already indicated that they are NOT going to any bowls this season!

If played, those bowls with ACC ties will have openings that need to be filled!  Why not the Herd in one of them/
