First shut out at home in Marshall's history against Rice and now losing a championship game at home... Doc has to go..

  • He was lucky to win in 2014. La Tech had about 7 guys suspended.

Not giving Bobby P what he wanted has worked out well.

If you haven’t figured it out yet this just shows we don’t play good competition.

  • Doc is the luckiest guy ever to coach at Marshall. He has been here 11 years and made about 8 million dollars and one championship in the watered down conference. His offenses are like watching paint dry and has no idea how to develop QBs. If Hamrick doesn’t fire him and let a search committee do a national search then he should be fired as well. Will Gilbert have the guts to tell Hamrick to put together a committee? Gilbert needs to take control or maybe he needs to go also.

Certainly not happy tonight, but you have to be impressed with what UAB has done since coming back.

    Not an excuse for tonight.

  • But, but, but guys, remember Hammy and Doc have been buddies going back to their high school playing days back in the good ole Putnam-Kanawha Valley days!!  Surely, such long time buddy loyalty should count for something!!  (Like Doc's bank account, for instance)!

That makes FAU, WKU, and UAB. And Marshall is tied with Rice in championships. It just goes to show how weak C-USA truly was when Doc had his 3 10-win seasons.

You can say that again.. Even UAB sucks balls. If they were even a mediocre team they would have beat us by 40 tonight. I mean we didn't complete our first pass until halfway through the 3rd quarter. The fact this was even a ball game just proves how awful everyone in this league is.

This has to happen. It is imperative that Gilbert and BOG step up. Chris Miller and Geoff Sheils are the Chairmen of the Athletic Committee and need to do their fiduciary duty.

I don't trust Hambrick with a FB hire.
But 'search committees' are not exactly very reliable either.
In memory of Dr Daniel P Babb who taught so much to so many.

  • What we don’t need is for Hamrick to elevate any of the assistants. I am very afraid Lambert will be our next head coach. I like what he has done with the D, but we needed someone that will bring energy to the program.

Cramsey has been a bust. The first three series tonight were the worst scripted offensive gameplan I have witnessed. Doc being Doc and punting on 4th and 1 on the first play of the 2nd quarter didn’t help momentum much either. Just sad, boring play on that side of the ball.

  • What the last 6 seasons have shown is that the success of 2013 and 2014 were a fluke. The exception to the rule. Was it simply that the players on those teams were able to get past Doc's faults? Better coaches on the staff? Whatever it was, it's been gone for the past 6 seasons.

I've heard some mention that it was Chris Rippon's recruiting during the previous three seasons that helped set up those two seasons. I can't speak to that, as I don't know the gentleman.

The reality is this, Marshall will not win another conference championship with John "Doc" Holliday as the head football coach.
