  • How does a team play this bad to end the season?  Locker room separation?  Fight in the parking lot?  Player sitting out/hurt?  We will never know....

  • I think Wells is in a slump for some reason and that allows teams to focus more on the run which results in tons of three and outs which results in the defense being on the field so long that they’re wearing down.  I think doc should prepare Zban for the bowl game too just in case Wells is still in a slump.

  • If you have a QB in a slump there are things you can call on offense to help your QB. We never call those things. We just watch him flail his arms begging for help until he finally sinks below the tide and drowns.

  • The truth is we pounded on barely above FCS teams to look good and folded the second anyone actually showed up with a team near average or better. The truth is we were the real pretenders all along. Not Coastal, Cincy, BYU or Liberty... It was us. Nothing changed in this game except the quality of our opponent and a head case QB.

I don't blame Wells, he does as coach says. Doc should have sat him for a couple of series after pick 3 in the Rice game. Instead he let him go in the hole so deep he was damaged goods for this game. Zban should transfer immediately.

I hope Doc is gone and whoever coaches next year can get Wells mentally back together. He's a good QB.

He's never done anything like that before.  What on God's green earth have you seen that makes you think he's going to do something like that now?

I like Wells.  I wish he was in a place where his talents could be developed, rather than eroded.  I wish that place was like Marshall  in the 80’s and 90”s.  I wish that place was Marshall again.

Maybe I’m the one who never learns.

Yes I think there are locker room issues. We have heard about the parking lot fight. I wasn’t there so I don’t know but have heard it was ugly from people I trust. I won’t get into why I heard it happen but it has been a problem going back to last year from what I’m told if true. But imo that isn’t all of it. This team was never as good as some people thought it was. They were never a top 25 team in a season where all teams were playing instead of sitting out to start the season from covid. Again, we beat the worst Appy team in decades. Then we beat a bunch of CUSA misfits and EKU and Umass. Rice and UAB aren’t great by no means but had something we can’t stop. Big offensive lines and running backs that run hard instead of dancing around. And also the staff destroyed Wells confidence the way they used him and imo have no clue how to develop a QB. We have went from an offensive university 20 years ago to 80 yards of offense in a half and 0-10 passing. And it’s been that way under Doc Holliday. Remember Boise last year and no first downs in the first half?

  • Doc has never developed players, never. If they got better, they got better on their own. Our teams get worse as the season goes on. Then miraculously play well in bowl games; or is it because the opposing team doesn’t want to be there and plays poorly.

Tired of this. Last night was an embarrassment. The announcers were embarrassed for us. They couldn’t believe the play calling and clock management decisions.

Doc needs to go and a total house cleaning done. That won’t happen so we can look for the same thing in 2021.

Hell, if I am a senior, I wouldn’t want to come back or this

  • Think about this for a moment.  We were playing lights out. 15 team in the nation.  Then we can't move the ball on 2 of the worst teams in all d1.   Something is seriously wrong in the locker room.  We just laid there and took it

The problem with this is if Zban plays well that will cause controversy. We all know Doc can not handle controversy.

  • UAB played and beat Rice with only 41 scholarship players.  They beat us without their best wr and ol last night.

  • The first 7 games of the season, it felt like we had a cohesive team.  All pulling as one.  It has certainly not felt that way the last two games.  Just really odd, there has to be some explanation.

  • Is it a coincidence that our season went south after wells was put on Davey o'Brien list?

It comes back to  Doc Holliday.. His teams always performs badly at the end of the year.. with the exception of bowl games..

went south because our coaches don't evolve their schemes ....... day 1 ideas are the same day 200 ....... and other teams in cusa have players as good as our players ....... but 1/2 the teams have a better coaching staff

But the way this team has imploded and gone South in the last two games, E-Man, to the point of a national embarrassment on TV, what would lead anyone to think that Doc can right the ship and put a cohesive football team on the field in a bowl in the next week or so?  Jeeze, if we can ANY opponent in a bowl that has a PULSE, we could very well be heading to Loss, and embarrassment, Number THREE under "Clueless Doc" Holliday.

Marshall and its fan base DON'T need that!  IMO, we need to pass on a meaningless bowl in 2020 which speeds up the Administration's decision on the Question of MU's head football coach in 2021!

  • I hope they forgo a bowl game and let players go home for Christmas. It's painfully obvious that the season ended for them at some point prior to the Rice game.

The wording of the press release for the Charlotte cancelation makes me think something else happened after Rice that lead to suspensions. Either that or Doc knew the team was in disarray and had an easy excuse to back out of a beat down.

  • I called BS on the fight comments when they first were put on this board and others because I thought in today’s times there would be some type of video as everyone including cars passing down 3rd ave would have filmed something.

I am waiting from someone who would know to call me this morning as this may have legs and if so, no way accept a bow bid and no way Doc stays.

What a change from early in the season, anyone who was at the games the team seemed to enjoy each other and moral was high.

Just because a car didn’t stop to video doesn’t mean it didn’t happen. Everything in this world doesn’t get caught on camera just because of cell phones. Yes there is a good chance of it but not a guarantee. Just sayin!!!

  • Our teams play was regressing as the season wore on.  Against WKU we scored 3 points I believe in 2nd half.  FAU we struggled.  Mtsu was our best game.  Then Rice came with equal talent, better gameplan and better coaches ..... so we lost.   Uab repeat of Rice except had better players too.
Regardless of what happened we lost because the other teams were better and we were showing signs of a slump before Rice.

We did regress no doubt. But we never were as good as some thought we were. Just look at the schedule? We beat Appy by 10 and this is their worst team in decades. We beat FAU by 11 and they have fallen off. Who else did we beat? EKU, Umass? Mtsu isn’t any good at all. We were solid but no where near a top 25 team. We got in because so many teams weren’t playing at the time. Then the wheels totally fell off and it became apparent.

  • I thought we were a 4/6 win team this year until Covid changed our schedule.  It was a matter of time before the wheels came off.  Our team was peaked to start year and then others with the early doubts caught up.

  • Our coaching staff fails each year to build our teams energy throughout the course of a season.  Add in a failure to adjust schemes throughout a season.  Slump after slump comes.
