  • The opposition can "draw up" all they want to. A good coach has plays to get Kinsey the ball off the in-bounds with a screen(s). After he gets the ball all bets are off as to what he does with it.

Some on here think DD walks on water. I don't. But all I can do as a fan is watch who gets the ball next time in that situation.

I’m just saying, have you ever heard the phrase decoy? Like I said if West had of made that shot and he had a good look, there wouldn’t have been a word said. And no I do not think he walks on water. Imo the Toledo game was all on Danny. I’m tired of seeing all man to man when teams continue to break down your defense getting to the hoop. And I’m really tired of some players making unforced errors and turnovers because they think they can win the game by themselves and want to show how great they are when they are not great. When they play as a team they play really well. But they start jacking up shots and trying to play one on one and Danny never acts upset or rarely pulls them. That is what baffles me. It’s called discipline!!! Freedom to take a clean open shot is one thing but becoming a TO machine and boneheaded plays are another. And for goodness sakes can someone toughen up and fight for a rebound? How is that?

  • Having a 55% winning percentage while head coach is not considered exceeding expectations in my book.   That’s below Greg White and Donnie Jones.  But if you want to count 2 wins as a qualification to beat expectations go ahead.   (Those 2 wins....CUSA championship and NCAA win.....which were both milestone wins).   Would mention the  CTI win but that Is on par with my state high school championship plaque I have on my wall. Nobody  will remember but those who played.    (THANK YOU WILL KING)

How many bowl plaques does Doc have on his wall? At least the CIT was a tournament you had to win multiple games. Give Danny his full 11 years and then we will see how it plays out. And that first tear going 11-21 after kicking off all the good players and starting from scratch hurt his record. I think we all know that. But yes he does need to start winning some bigger games and I will admit that. But Doc Holliday he is not. At least he hasn’t seen complete dumpster fires like 2016 and the last 2 game meltdown.

Expectations are what the fans and the pundits expected him to do when he was hired. And the expectation from 95% of those people would be that he would be an awful hire and be gone in two years.

Instead, he's had three straight 20 win seasons and an appearance in the big dance. You can say his overall winning percentage is behind Greg White and Donnie Jones and technically that's true but it also ignores other significant areas where DD is far ahead of both of them.

For example Donnie Jones went 55-41 during his 3 seasons here at Marshall. But finished under .500 in 1/3 years and never finished higher than 4th in CUSA. Also, went 0-3 in the CUSA tourney. Even in 2010 when he had Whiteside and a loaded team that went 24-10, he couldn't even muster a win in the CUSA tourney.

Greg White, had some decent years including his first season in 1996/97 where he went 20-9 and was Tied-First in the SoCon and 1999-2000 when he went  21-9. But those are his ony two seasons of more than 20 wins and in eight seasons he had four years of .500 or less and even in his best two years couldn't manage to get into NCAAs and win a conference tourney when it mattered.

I think when Danny walks his winning percentage will be higher than both of them. But, even with being just slightly behind them at the moment, he still has more 20 win seasons, more conference tourney wins and of course, the only victory in school history in the NCAAs and he makes basically nothing in terms of a D1 head basketball coach. Also, Dan has only finished .500 or worse one time so far.

I agree, DD needs to get us back to the NCAA in the next 2 or 3 years to really be considered a true success and not a one year fluke like Holiday has proved to be, and to do that he is going to have to be a little better on the recruiting trail but we will see how this year plays out.

And I get tired of people saying he had that 2 game run is all. Well guess what? He had it and won the only game EVER in the big dance. Who else can claim that? And who knows what would have happened last year? They were peaking at the right time again.

I read somewhere before the season started that Marshall is the only CUSA team to win at least 10 conference games in each of the last 5 years.

  • Hey bust you surely can't say those guys didn't make BP's life as a coach much easier.  Now don't get me wrong I loved Bobby as a coach and a person but those guys certainly gave him an advantage.

Well sure they did. But Dic couldn’t carry around Pruett jock strap. I really get tired of people making excuses against Pruett and for Doc.

Also who recruited that kid Leftwich? Nobody wanted him as a QB and Pruett saw the talent and developed him. Pruett brought in Kresser as a Transfer also. I’ll give you Moss because that was a freak situation. But Pruett and Donnan developed talent. Doc not so much.

Except for MOSS , you surely cant say Pruett and Company didnt develop and put those guys in position to be successful.  Maximize their talents so to speak.

  • Pruett was awesome!  Great!!  How about when we would have (3) 1k wr's in a single season.

Today the Bucs beat the Falcons

I saw some old Herd pass concepts in the game.
