  • Grant regressed so much towards the end of the season?  He was on target, throwing the deep ball and finding multiple receivers...these last couple of games he looked terrible making me wish for Greene.

I hope a freshman slump but he could not look any worse.

  • The route executions in the Rice game were completely off, he threw where he though the ball was supposed to go.  The receivers weren't there. Now he is trying to guess where they are going instead of trusting the problem has been fixed.  I think Gammage had a couple route breaks again against UAB too.  He's trying to do too much, and appears to have lost some confidence in the receivers' running the correct routes.  That's my opinion.

  • Has something to do with our passing schemes/patterns IMO.

The long TD pass to Gaines straight down the field how often did we throw those kinds of passes ALL NIGHT?  Why do we roll Wells out so much on pass plays?  Does he not feel comfortable throwing out of the pocket?  Is he less effective throwing from the pocket?  Or is our senior laden, veteran O line really not that competent in pass protection on pass plays from the pocket?  To be honest, our great O line couldn't have possibly graded out that well OVERALL against Both Rice and UAB!!  IMO, the line was dominated by UAB's defensive front a good portion of the Championship game!!

Why don't we throw more quick slants and seam routes, making defenses guard/defend the entire field when we pass instead of having to defend 25-35% of it on most of our pass plays?  And we also have to ask just how much separation did our wide outs get on most of our pass plays last night?  Seems like on many of our pass plays the Blazers had 2 or 3 defenders right on our receivers, or closely in the vicinity.  Also quite evident, too, that UAB's D backs have been well schooled and taught how to play the ball and make plays on the itself.  Which is something for years under Doc, and numerous D Back Coaches, our defensive backs have obviously never been instructed or taught how to do!!

  • If you go back and look at Pruett passing schemes, rote running and timing it makes Docs teams look like pee wee ball.

At least one of the picks against Rice (the pick 6) it was Wells who read the option Route wrong. The WR correctly saw man coverage with an inside technique being played by the corner and ran a go route. Wells saw it wrong and threw a hitch for six to the other team.

You may be 100% correct, but it was double coverage to the outside, and the receiver, the same one who had trouble all day, ran right into the double coverage instead of the out route; that is the way I saw it the couple times I watched it.  Hey, who knows, we are probably both part right or both entirely wrong.

What did Cramsey have to do with Litton? Let’s don’t start acting like Cramsey is the only problem we have. The common denominator is Doc. We thought the same problem was Legg and did it get better? Cramsey wasn’t even here when Litton was here.

  • In a majority of cases a hotseat HC only gets at max to pick 2 OCs.  After that it’s obvious the biggest problem is the HC.  That’s normally how it’s done.  Marshall does not do things normal. So a hotseat coach probably gets unlimited oc picks.  This would only happen if the HC and AD are close friends with history.  Too bad a childhood relationship is more important than a university football program that has been through so much.  Not right.  It’s just not.
