  • I just was notified that Tuesday i will again be in the upstairs bleachers.  Thats 4 out of 5. The other i was in upstairs chairbacks.  A good friend is 5 for 5 in the bleachers.
I know I'm not the biggest contributor but with over 400 points and Tip Off Club membership etc, I would think my odds would be a little better.

  • And with only a few people opting into the lottery for the bleachers the same people are getting them every game. (I’m not complaining about getting to go.)however I’m going to bad almost twice as much spent for the upstairs bleachers as I do my normal seats.

  • Don’t feel bad. I know a guy at work that gives quite a bit of money and season tickets for years and hasn’t sniffed a ticket yet.

  • I agree, it’s been disappointing. I know they said when this started that when conference play got going, if you win tickets for Fri you won’t be eligible for Sat, but I opted in for all three sections and since they always have upper bleachers available, will I get tickets for both Fri and Sat upper bleachers? If so I’m going to be upset. I’m already $400 into tickets counting Tuesday game.

I also think they can put more fans in the lower bowl and still maintain social distancing rules. I said weeks ago with today’s technology people should be able to go to HerdZone and pick what games they want to opt in and out.

I am glad that Herd basketball is playing, like Meister said though, it’s been disappointing with the ticket lottery.

  • Just curious does it seem like the same people are always in the lower bowl and are they "known" big money contributors?

  • I would guess it’s rigged to a degree. The buddies and ass kissers will get the better seats every time. It’s the Marshall way.

  • It’s a lottery.  I put in for Lower Bowl only.  I’ve gotten the results that I expected.  Doesn’t sound like you aren’t getting Tix, just not the ones you want.  If you wanted lower bowl, you should have just put in for lower bowl.  For those talking about the Buddy system, I don’t think anyone is more plugged into Danny than Herdmeister.  I think the Lottery system is fair.  People just need to develop a bidding strategy and play the odds.

Meister, many games i can not attend this season or if i do will have a couple chair backs available in lower bowl or at worst, upper chairbacks. If you're interested, PM me.

Bottom line, I just want in the building. By putting in for all three lotteries I am getting that but just seems weird to me that in all bit one case I am in the bleachers and in fact a couple times in the same seat. I have another friend that has been in bleachers every draw. I do see most of the same people in the same downstairs seats at nearly every game

  • The part that bothers me isn’t so much that I’m 5 for 5 in the bleachers so much as when you look at the lower arena, there are enough empty seats that you could double the downstairs capacity and still safely distance. I see a few rows that have three groups of people in the same rows and then you see tons of rows with one group or large areas with no one.

Are people in the lottery that are winning lower arena seats and not coming leaving their seats unused? Do they have some kind of weird spacing going on that’s leaving gaps? Just scan the lower arena when on tv or when you’re there. Even with leaving the first however many rows empty, you could easily and safely double the lower capacity. And this is coming from someone who respects the safety protocols and takes the virus seriously.

If in fact these seats are being drawn and left unused, an easy solution would be to create a system where the person who is awarded an unused ticket can donate it back to the university for resell on a priority points basis. It would generate another ticket sale for revenue to the university. The university could give donation credits of the face value of the ticket to the person who gave the ticket back even.

I’m getting zapped for for the price of tickets in the ozone while I actively look for lower and upper level chairs. Twice I’ve paid $110 dollars for lower tickets and have eaten my upper bleacher tickets. Multiply that over the course of a season and I’m putting more money into basketball then ever in my life.

I’m not complaining as much as it might appear either. I get it. This is 2020. I really respect that. If I’m legitimately not getting tickets in the lottery, that’s just how life works. Just seeing all of the additional lower capacity that is going unused is my biggest gripe.

And for people selling tickets in the lower level...I’ll buy them from you any game. Lol. My wife struggles with the upper bleachers. She’s just recovering from chemo for breast cancer (looks like she will beat it) and not having railing up there to navigate the stairs can be scary for her.

    just for some other perspective...

I put my name in for all three seat types in the lottery.  Of the games I'm four times in upper chairbacks and also one time in the lower bowl. I'm at over 850 points and tip off club member too so I'm thinking it's just tough to get lower bowl.

I'm curious about the conference slate.  It sounds like so far, you and I have had a great hit rate of at least "getting in the building" now but that's going to suck when conference starts and we are only eligible for one game if we "win" the lottery to attend the first game, as I understand it we are out on game 2.

Ticket office told me today I would get tickets for all games since I opted in for all three sections and not everyone opted in for the upper bleachers. So all conference games I will bare minimum be in the upper bleachers, even back to back conference games. I will be looking at a minimum of $940 in tickets this year. Not what I expected. If I had to do it over again I would only opted in for lower bowl and upper chair back. Since tickets for the upper bleacher will always be available I could purchase them for when I’m in town and when I would lose out on the lottery. If everyone remembers, Marshall expected more people to opt in and felt like getting tickets would be tough this year. Just wish they would allow people to maybe change their options before conference play starts up.

You ever think going to practice has nothing to do with sucking up? Maybe we just enjoy practice. I even went when Herrion was the coach and it hurt him to even speak to you. But I still loved going. Same with a white, Jirsa and even Freeman.

If its true that for conference games you can't sit downstairs Friday and Saturday both, it will open up  seats giving us a better shot of getting downstairs

Sorry. Yes I saw it unfortunately I would then be saddled with 2 bleacher seats. Thank you for the offer however. The most important thing is to get in the arena. I know I will be for every game. Not all bad. I do know that I will get good seats at our away games sitting in the Herd section usually near the Herd bench. So far trips planned to La Tech next week and FIU on January and of course the conference tournament.
Still hopeful for ODU as well

well, if we are struggling financially and we have to deal with these unusual attendance restrictions.....it sounds like that is a great place to start.

they outlined a pretty objective criteria that considered priority points, vision campaign, tip off club etc etc.  not sure what else they should do.  i think everyone wishes they had lower bowl tix everytime.
