  • How is it that we can go this long and the fact Doc was never given an extension and no word if this is his last season boggles my mind.  How can no one ask Hamrick or even Doc if he is going to be our coach next year.

I hope it is not a bait and switch and he retires in April and Hamrick names Lambert because of the timing like we got stuck with Snyder because of Pruetts timing.

  • One way or another, we have to know pretty soon. Can’t coach if your contract stops in June.

That is my worry that it is going to be Lambert and Doc will wait to announce his retirement and because of the late timing Hamrick will announce Lambert...nothing against Lambert it is just we need fresh outside blood unless Penny or Lefty.

  • They are secret about everything. Maybe they will just use the “new offensive coordinator” line again. Just throw the fans crumbs to shut them up for another year.

Definitely not enough, but no matter who the coach is next year, we need another OC.

  • Of the handful of guys in the press room each time, very few have the balls to ask the tough questions.  All value their press passes far too much.

  • I'm sure the "spin apparatus" is already in high gear over in the Shewey.  Doc lays another big egg down in Bama on Christmas Day, and I'm sure Hammy will have his scripted rationalizations/excuses in hand and well rehearsed!

Will use the season and time of year and fact that the second semester at MU doesn't commence until at least mid January.  Will keep status of Doc well under wraps until then, at least, and mum's the word on HC status:  resignation, renewal, contract extension, dismissal, etc., take your pick.  MH will be counting on the fact that Herd fans who really do care will be deeply engrossed in the Herd basketball team's play as CUSA round ball is deeply into conference action by then.

I would like to know if Doc believes what he said at his press conference when named MU's coach, "To be a winner everyone with the team needs to leave their ego at the door." If he leaves his ego at the door then he knows  this is the time to think of the team and retire as coach of the Herd.

No, he said a lot of things he didn’t mean, like “this isn’t my team - it’s your team, the fans team”.

  • From my limited memory...

Pruett wanted Larry Kueck (our OC at the time) to be the head coach...not Snyder.
The Gibson's promised a large donation to Marshall, including money in purchase new turf for the football field, if Marshall hired Snyder.

Marshall needing money and pissed that Pruett would just suddenly retire, hired Snyder.

Snyder was not ready to be a head coach...maybe in a few years he would have been ready.

However, I think Snyder would have done a better job in the new-Conference USA than Doc.
Snyder had some good players and coaches...he also had some bad ones...and let a few get out of hand.

    Mike...Go Herd!!!

When I read that I thought of the often stated rap against Doc.  In eleven years Doc hasn't been offered a better coaching job.  Snyder has bounced around quite a lot, but nowhere has he been considered for a head coaching job that I know of.  I think that says a lot.

  • This is the most unfriendly AD towards the fans that I can ever remember. Almost bordering in paranoia. I fully expect Doc to be on the sidelines in 2021. And If so, the MU Foundation will have a new regular donor.

Sorry but Marcum holds that distinction for me.
I remember being in the Big Green tailgate tent outside Legion Field one day. There was a nice contingent of Herd fans there as there always is in Birmingham.
Kayo had setup shop on a chair outside the tent. He sat there for over 2 hours talking to an old friend of his. He never once interacted that I could see, with a single Herd fan that afternoon.

Hamrick does make an effort to acknowledge to greet and talk with everyone at the tailgates. He is far more personable than Kayo ever was

i could be wrong, but i think hamrick was the 1 who said that.  i think that was part of his lecture to us about how we need to quickly get over the fact he'd just hired a wvu alum.

Funny how everybody's perception is different. Marcum was very nice to me, had a 15 minute conversation with him and it was very pleasant. As to Hamrick, he came across arrogant.

Forget a new offense OC, If Doc returns we're going to need some new Herd fans..I won't watch another Herd game as long as Doc is here as coach..

I found the opposite to be true, anytime during football weekends I approached Mike Hamrick he could not have been more cordial and appeared to actually listen to what I had to say.

This 100%. How many times are we going to be fooled by getting a new OC? It is 100% apparent that Doc is the problem with fans being bored, stale and just to the “who cares” point. Doc is the most boring person and coach I have ever seen in my life. He makes Belichick look like a social butterfly.
