  • Would much prefer a quality juco player every now and then who has 2 or even 3 years of eligibility left and who can play right away.  More likely to get one, maybe two, years of good, quality play out of them.  Can't tell me our O is so damn complicated that it takes 2 to 3 years to be proficient in it.  Yet we get these projects who practice year after year, get sparse playing time, and when they do play, they appear clueless on the floor.  Another year passes, another season rolls around, and it looks like they have done nothing in terms of improving in the S&C area and when they do get in games, its the same-o haven't a clue type of performance.

Any S&C the past summer had to be 100% on the players. They were not allowed in the Cam or the weight room. I know when I was talking to Marko and Goran over the summer, living in the dorm about all they could do was run and pushups.

I've seen tons of videos athletes have posted doing different exercises, weight training, etc. Where there is a will, there is a way.

They told me they were doing all they could. Obviously living in a dorm half way around the world makes it a bit tougher

  • We could use a strong, physical and athletic 6.8 - 6.11 PF.  WVU has a ton of these type players so they are out there.

I really like a Juco to plug a need. There are really good Juco out there every year for mid majors. I remember Dwayne Lewis, Jeff Guthrie, Robert Epps, Sam Irvin etc. I don’t like building a team with them. But say you are in need of a PG. or you have everything you need except a inside player? There is a place for a Juco every once in a while.

Going back farther, remember Stu Aberdeen's mix during his too, too tragic short MU tenure?  Outstanding HS players like Robert Price and George Washington, Labo, etc., added to quality, skilled and polished JUCOS like Greg Young, IIRC, and Harley Major?  There are quality junior college players out there if a Coach wants em; MU coaches in the past have been able to get their share!

  • Switching gears somewhat; hope the staff and team members have a very Merry and healthy Christmas season.  UNC-A win gives the HERD its best OOC record, I'm pretty sure, during Danny's tenure.  Hopefully it gives us some positive feelings and momentum heading to Ruston next week-end.  Come back with at least one W from a tough venue could very well help propel us to what may be a very successful CUSA season!!  GO HERD!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Would love to get another James Kelly type of transfer. Even at a different position, just mean someone who can come in and make an immediate impact. Even if it's only for one year.

  • although it's legit to talk about maybe wanting a juco forward (4s, 5s and maybe 3s) it's probably due in part because Iran and Darius have been out.  and it looks like they'll be available when it matters most, in conference play.  the point is, we've had quantity to cover, quality definitely arguable.
but let's take a fictional look at the 1s and 2s and maybe 3s with hope that injuries are never a real factor; what if any two of Jarrod, Taevion or Andrew were unavailable?  i think we'd be in trouble, even in the OOC and our record would probably reflect that.  maybe we'd just go bigger and rely on experience getting the ball down the floor, directing and handling the ball in the half court/top of the key, second chance O resets, etc. of those with at least some playing time, you have Jeremy, Marko, David, Luke and Devin. it's been mentioned in other threads 3 or more with true capability or potential to be a PG is the top priority, so when scanning the current roster/position skills, i agree.
