  • Marshall has a very nice bookstore inside the Student Center.  The only problem, unless I'm missing something, there is no where to park to go to the bookstore.  I was going to do some shopping there, thinking that with school out I could find a parking space, but I was wrong.  I don't know where they would put parking, but I do know they at least lost a few dollars this week because of it.  I also had a friend who did go there and came out to a $15 parking ticket.  Maybe they just don't want people off-campus shopping there.  Sad, because it is a very nice store.

And yes, I went to Marshall in the 80s so I know all about parking at Marshall.  But, it would be nice to take a couple of those lots or the circle area or even the parking garage a block up and reserve a few spots.  Maybe there are some spots but if so they need to advertise it a bit.

agree 100%.  it is a very nice store, but i hardly ever go there for same reason.  & they'd probably see an increase in their business now that hometown is online only.  but if there's nowhere to park . . .

The lot across John Marshall Drive is public access.  As is the lot directly across the street to the west of the performing arts center.  If the kids are in, the parking garage 1/2 block from the bookstore is open although I'm sure its shut down during the break.  During the break, MU Security doesn't enforce the lot restrictions so you can park in the lot directly east of the performing arts center.  Lots of options if you really want to get there.

I don’t know for sure but I don’t think it’s open but only on game days. Correct me if I am wrong.
The bookstore has really good selection of Marshall stuff.

Maybe he has a disability that doesn’t permit him to walk long distances. Just saying.

and there’s handicapped parking everywhere, there’s the drop off area in front of student center.  There are options it’s all about want to and if you really want to you will find a way to make it happen

  • Agree, I believe the lot to the West of the student center, between it and the Drinko Library has some time limited public parking.  I've parked there before, I believe, and gone into the Student Center for a brief time.  Got no ticket, maybe I was just lucky.

  • I didn't know about the lot by the performing arts center and I just figured the parking garage was permit only. That's kind of my point, they should let people know where you can park to go there. I don't mind walking to get there, if I knew where you could park. I'll check the one by the performing arts center next time. Thanks.

And I'm not sure the security not checking is correct. The person I know was there the day before me, parked in a campus lot and got the ticket. School is out.

Anyway thanks for the info about parking. Don't know about all these options when school is in, but if you haven't been to the store in the student center you should go. Very nice.

I'm looking forward to seeing the student center now too.  The pictures I've seen looks like quite an improvement.

  • Most campus bookstores are centrally located because they are meant for traditional residential students to visit and their biggest business is still from selling textbooks.  Not a great deal of easy public parking on most campuses.  Marshall is not unusual in that respect.

And parking is actually much better at Marshall then it was when I was there in the 80s.
