  • With the current pre-game secrecy rivaling that of pre-D-Day planning, I've been looking for news on who the starters will be on Saturday with no luck.  I did find a website with a depth chart guess:  https://www.ourlads.com/ncaa-football-depth-charts/depth-chart/marshall/91004

With some surprises and some unknowns on the OL, I think that depth chart is probably pretty accurate.  The one position that I don't have enough information to make a guess on is RB.  So I thought it would be interesting to see who other Herdfans think will be the starter.

  • Evans would be my guess, with a couple of others getting significant snaps

  • My bet would be Evans.  All if this secrecy is good if we win but Huff will get a lot if criticism if the team does not play well Saturday.

  • Pap is out with an injury. Evans may start but I really think Ali will be the man this year. Jmo

  • I'd say Evans gets the nod as the veteran and he's paid his dues to deserve the first carries. As stated Papillion is out so most likely we'll see some of all 3

  • I have heard that Ali could turn out to be a stud. Looking forward to watching the offense Saturday!

  • I voted for Ali based solely on what I saw in the Spring game.  I agree with the comments that Sheldon would get the nod if we were dealing with a typical situation.  I don't think that seniority and what you did in the past counts with the new staff.  I think it depends on who can execute perfectly every time.

I've been rooting for Knowledge to break out and be the main back for the past two years.  I also like Evans as a back.  I really don't know anything about Ali other that what I saw in the Spring game.

Hopefully we are all going to be happy on Saturday afternoon when all three make some big plays.  Go Herd!!!

Unfortunately this must be pretty old, Ross is gone and Pappilon is out with neck injury and surgery.

It is from June 30th.  It's the only one out there that I could find.

  • Competition was not open if all if these same starters start again.  But if this chart is accurate I bet the starters on a short leash.  We need TE playmaking other than Gaines.  OL looks shaky.

  • As Thunder said, this was from June; which would be the expected status at the end of Spring Practice, with no actual fall ball practice at all.

Big City, I think you may have read how tough his HS at Braden River.

Even weenie Vitale took strong opposition about how the guy was treated by the ruling body of this area. I live roughly two to three miles from his High School, Braden River. Our senior center is from the same school.

Both of them are first class students and FB players.

  • It's amazing how little we know about our team.  No info, no hype, etc.  I never expected such a lack of information and excitement from a first-year coach.  I would think he'd want to get the fans fired up about what we have.  I hope we're pleasantly surprised on Saturday.

He's actually very active around school and social media. I don't do twitter and such but have seen and heard about some of his tweets. Facebook has a bunch of stuff as well. With practices closed, the local media doesn't have much to go on except player fluff pieces. I like it, gives Navy less to prepare for.
Doc was too open, and it worked to his disadvantage, teams knew what we were doing and local fans always thought, this guy or that guy were going to the next Pennington, Moss or Curry - expectations were through the roof and usually didn't come close to the hype.

Full presser and a radio interview plus a depth chart available all within the week of the game.  So now you have all the information required in plenty of time to soak it in before the game.  I do not see any benefit of having this information prior to now.  We knew when folks left the program, we knew when people were added from the portal.  Unless we have a representative at practices we aren't going to have this information, early, and other than board chit-chat I don't see any advantage to having it early.   There's been more chit-chat over the mystery than there ever was over having the info, anyway.
