  • Micah Handlogten the 7-0 HS player from SC, will be a visitor this weekend.
In fact he will be watching the team practice at 2pm today (Friday) in the Cam. You are are welcome to attend. It will show the support we have for basketball and I would think impress the young man. He will be a guest at the soccer game tonight and the football game tomorrow.
Hope to see you at 2pm in the Cam!

Always thought it'd be funny if the Jergens lotion company bought the Off bug repellent company.  Then you'd have the Jergens-Off Lotion.  You're welcome.

  • Thank you that turned out yesterday. We had a large gathering and it certainly caught the attention of the young man and his parents. His mother told Danny that she was shocked at the number of fans that were there for a pickup scrimmage.
Of course we know that the crowd was larger than usual but we do have quite a few on hand everyday.

  • The soccer crowd should have also made a great impression.  Someone I didn?t recognize was with Beyers and Goran with his drum.

  • Anyone got the inside scoop on the visit?  On a side note, I?ve got a friend who goes to all the practices and he had the following to say:
    1) As much as he liked West who was his favorite player, he thinks our offense will be better with Taylor, whom he said he as playing great.
    2) He?s really impressed with Fricks and Toussaint out of the newcomers, especially Toussaint.
    3) George could be be a difference maker this year

Agree about West. I loved his heart and desire but he wasn?t a true PG and had real trouble creating for others. I think Mckey will have as much impact as George if comparing careers. But Fricks and Toussaint are going to be players especially as their careers develop. And Obinna has really improved and really put on some muscle. Going to be fun watching the season unfold and the new kids develop with our older guys.

  • Interesting collection of talent, but this team needs another stud guard and more three point shooting. Andrew is going to have to play so many minutes. Who looks good right now? Andrew, Darius, and Taveion.

  • Think we will need for Early to take a jump and be a consistent contributor.

Probably the recruit.  Goran was escorting him around.

And hopefully he has lost about 10-12# or so from last year's playing weight.

It was definitely him.  I was in the school bookstore the next day and saw the same kid--clearly 7 feet tall--with two people who clearly were his parents being escorted by an official Marshall person.

In talking to Danny yesterday he believed the visit went well. The family seemed impressed with the whole weekend. They told him they would go home and Discuss his options. I believe Danny feels good about our chances.
IF we get him, our recruiting for the class of 22 is over. Of course the portal could change that. He is already on 2 heavily for the class of 23. A 6-0 pure PG and a 6-10 forward.

I always thought DD hurt us offensively every since Elmore left by having the ball in West's hands so much.  Love his defense and will miss that, but I always thought we should have had Taylor and West play like we did when it was Elmore and West.  i.e. ball primarily in ATs hands with him creating and JW spotting up.

I'm very optimistic about this season as well as long term.  I like a lot of the recent additions as well as the returning team.

    **disclaimer**I never attend practice.   ;D

I agree. The last two recruiting classes have been major upgrades over the Euro projects DD started off his career with.

  • I really think by the middle of the year this could be Dannys best team. Imo we have the CUSA player of the year in Kinsey. Imo we have the best PG Taylor. George has taken it to another level finally. Beyers can really score and just needs to play under control. Early is virtually unstoppable but just needs to play within the offense and not try and score everytime he gets the ball. Obinna has put on about 18 lbs and playing better. And I?m really high on Braun, Fricks and Toussaint. Once the freshman get some game action and Danny decides his rotation, we can be pretty darn good.

Was his Dad, Ben? If so, I think he played at Western Michigan and some in the NBA.
