  • . . . MAC's Bowling Green beat the Big 10's Minnesota, the AAC's SMU defeated TCU of the Big 12, and at the half, another Sun Belt team, Georgia State, is embarrassing the SEC's SEC down on the Plains.  Meanwhile in CUSA, uh, . . . well, . . . NEVERMIND!

  • UTSA beat Memphis. They should give UAB a run for the money in the west.

Great performance by the Roadrunners in the second half.  Really impressed by their HC   Now 4-0; Memphis was 3-0 going in.

UTSA got down 21-Zip in the first Quarter; trailed 28-14 deep into the 2nd half.  Great offensive drive late in the 4th Quarter and excellent clock management which set up a game winning field goal with the clock at 2 seconds.  Hopefully Coach Huff came get a tape of 2nd half of this game and learn a few lessons on how to manage the clock at KEY POINTS/TIMES in the game.  Can OFTEN being the key factor in who wins and who loses, as we all PAINFULLY KNOW!

  • ODU was down 35-7 to Buffalo. Stormed all the way back. Scored with 19 seconds to go in the game to make it 35-34. Freshman backup QB ran on the field celebrating and got a 15 yard penalty which meant the EP to tie was like a 35 yard FG and ODU missed it.

That might be the last time that guy ever steps on the field again.  Would be if I was the coach.

I don't think he was the only one. Think he was just the one they called it on, but yeah. I'd be pissed lol

  • WKU is playing IU more-or-less evenly, down 24-26.

Announcers are saying that the attendence might be a stadium record.
That's kind of good for the 'toppers.
But it really showcases the problem with the CUSA (and the MAC). Conference games are not perceived as having as much importance as a home game against a bottom half P5 team.

  • UTEP just beat New Mexico to go 3-1....good for them as that's a big rivalry game for them.

Boring game to watch though. I watched the 4th quarter.

Yeah, 129, Miners have "swept" the New Mexico schools this season.  I guess that gets them possession of the highly prized and coveted "Aluminum Foil Cactus", the emblem of desert football superiority, for another year!!

Elsewhere is CUSA, FAU, expected to be one of the HERD's East Division challengers, got waxed by the Air Force.  UAB got a nice, but close, win over the AAC's Tulane.  However, in some bad news, two League schools went down to two of our old MAC foes.  Buffalo, leading 35-7 at the half, managed to nip ODU 35-34, when the Monarchs missed a tying PAT attempt near the end of the game. Want more?  Central Michigan rallied to beat  FIU 31 to 27.  FIU led 27 to 10 after 3 quarters, but didn't score in the 4th Qtr. and was outscored 21-0 by CMU in the last period!!  SOUND FAMILIAR, Herd Fans?  You think maybe FIU's Coordinators were using the playbooks, etc., of their HERD counterparts in that 4th Quarter?

CUSA football - - - Just Plain "bad", or "snake bitten", . . . or BOTH?

Because conference games aren't as important as hosting any p5 team. Would you rather go to a game where we play Indiana or FIU?

  • WKU Zappe 31/44 for 365 3 TD against Indiana in a 2 point loss. This kid will be the best QB we play all year.

  • No way WKU game was a sell out or even close to it unless everyone left before the 4th quarter when I started watching.

It wasn't a sell-out, but apparently it did break WKU's attendence record.

  • Probably a fair amount on IU fans too as the proximity to IU is relevant here + border battles tend to draw well.

Government is the most dangerous institution known to man. Throughout history it has violated the rights of men more than any individual or group of individuals could do: it has killed people, enslaved them, sent them to forced labor and concentration camps, and regularly robbed and pillaged them of the fruits of their expended labor. ~ JOHN HOSPERS

  • C-USA had a good weekend, don't know if you watched some of the games lost, but we did play competitively in most all games, should have won the CMU / FIU game, and ODU gave a great effort in coming back against Buffalo (to me, it was apparent ODU wasn't a "ready" football team at the outset of their game).  UTSA showed real strength down the stretch, and UAB held steady in New Orleans. So these two teams get wins over AAC teams in their own stadiums, not a bad statement for the league.

UTEP game was very entertaining, but they did have a chance to beat a team with 6 of their top 10 receivers out due to COVID 19 contact tracing on the NM team.

Add in an acceptable, but very disappointing, MU game at Appy State, and I think the conference makes a solid statement for itself yesterday.  Disappointment of the day, FAU at AFA.
