  • I honestly hope he does better but don't blame everything on head coach.  The grass is always greener on the other side.  There are a lot of things worse than going 8-4 every year.  It is 6-6 every year.

  • At best we are looking at 8-4 this season and a second place East finish which sounds very familiar to the historic performance of Doc.

OK....so a first year coach would be doing just as good as the coach who had 11 years to do better?

8-4 and 2nd in the East is something I wouldn't be happy with, but I would be content with that in Huffs first year considering how much we lost. Especially if we had a good bowl win as well.

  • Once again you are speculating that he will be second.  What if he is third, fourth or fifth?

It took Doc 4 years to get it together, let's give Huff some time as well.

I already said if we finish with a losing record then he should be fired.

  • Most people on here said 9-3 or 8-4. I had us losing to Navy and winning vs ECU. Most everyone had us losing to Appy.

CUSA has some good offenses and not so good defenses so far.  UTSA seems to be playing the best football early on. MU has handled the road atmospheres very well at Navy/Appy, so i'm not at all worried about whatever gimmicks MTSU uses to get a few hundred or more people in the stands.

My expectation is that we kick the snot out of the next 4 opponents before having our 4 toughest conf games to end regular season (@FAU, UAB, @Charlotte, WKU). Barring injury, I still believe we'll be favored in all 4 of those games to end year.

Huff has been refreshing to the program in many ways IMO. We'll know more about the entire staff over course of season.  The things I look for as red flags are stubborness and unwillingness to adapt/change to your personnel, your schemes, and techniques when they are clearly not working.  He went with other FG kicker pretty quick. Let's see how/if we change pass coverage techniques, redzone schemes, and tackling.

Get by by MTSU this week and I tend to agree.  ODU gives all indications of being pretty bad.  And game at North Texas doesn't appear that daunting based on their current play.  Similar indications or feelings concerning FIU and how they are looking.  Herd "easily" should be 6-2 going into last third of the season, where competition definitely toughens up:  FAU there, UAB at home, Charlotte there and WKU at home in game 12!
