    What's next for the AAC
Vannini: With its western hopes dashed, the American will now look within its footprint. Commissioner Mike Aresco has said the league is looking for two to four new members. Those options could include UAB, Charlotte, Georgia State, UTSA, James Madison, Rice, North Texas, FAU, Appalachian State, Louisiana and Marshall.

Among that group, there?s a difference in budgets, growth potential and academics. Aresco has typically targeted schools that will increase the value of the media rights deal, but there may not be any clear choices for that at this point.

If they pick 4 teams out of that list then I really like our chances. We can say what we want, but getting an AAC invite would be pretty big. The basketball would be a million times better than SBC.

  • I am beginning to think it may dissolve

Way too many exit fees on the table to dissolve....if we are lucky, the MWC will poach SMU/Tulsa/Tulane.

This would open the door for Temple/USF/ECU to form an eastern based G5 out of the American. Basically could follow the footprint of the old Big East. Doubt it happens but that would be awesome.

We all know that Memphis is short term for the AAC but even without them basketball would be better than the SBC. The Belt has terrible basketball

Anyone paying attention knows football is what matters with all of this.  Kansas did not even get a sniff to move to the SEC.  Other then about 10 people who may travel to away basketball games the Sunbelt is a much better place for MU.  The thousand plus MU fans at App St can attest to that.

  • The AAC has asked all almost all the girls to dance.

I hope Marshall tells them to %^&* off.

  • AND IMHO, we're worth a lot more than the SBC.  C-USA football making great strides at top 8 schools, basketball much better than SBC, I don't know a lot about olympic sports, but taking a chance to move soccer backwards is a dangerous one.

AAC knows what they're doing, and I'm betting their getting a lot of guidance from their friends at ESPN.  If no AAC, I'm still good for the C-USA growth I'm seeing over the SBC.  We should be recruiting SBC schools, their TV contract won't hold and ours would bump drastically IMHO with the addition of Appy State and Coastal, Lousiana, plus Liberty or Ga State.

Disagree. Marshall needs to publicly say ?not interested in AAC at this time?

I agree. SBC doesn't even sponsor soccer.

CUSA would be much better dropping 2-4 of the underperforming programs. The top 6-8 are pretty solid, just a little too much dead weight right now.
