  • Going up top with a 30+ point lead in the final minute or 2. With Butch Davis not going to be brought back and will probably retire from coaching.

Doc did the same thing against FIU. I apologize but bush is bush. I don't care if waterboy is playing QB for MU in that situation..

  • I disagree.  Boys gotta learn to finish, if it happens to us it's our job to stop them.  Loved it

They went for it on 4th down when they could have ran out the clock? Garbage time points are ok for them but not us?

Not the same thing at all. They were looking at being shut out.

Not a cheap shot.  His leg got rolled on from the side.  His knee is trashed.  Just one of those things.  One of the D linemen, Calimesi, or something like that.

  • In today's college football a team can put up 30 points in a quarter or less.  There is no overscoring.  ECU came back 17 points in 7 minutes.  Would you like that to happen again?  We took out starters.  You don't tell backups not to play.   It's not bush league to finish the game.  Games with big leads are practices for the future.   Suck it up, buttercup.

  • I didn?t get to watch the game, but I?m always opposed to running up the score. That said, 30 is not running it up. But I always find it classy to take a knee. I would have had to see the series to form an opinion.

  • I'd be pissed if we didn't keep running our offense with the backups. Bush league would be keeping the starters in and doing that. As long as the backups are in keep playing and trying to score.

  • If you have inserted the 2's and 3's, you run the offense.  Every single one of them needs to know how to run every play.  No more of the Doc (bleep) of 3 runs up the middle and punt when you're up 10.  Maybe you can argue bush if the starters are still in the game but once the 2's and 3's are in, let them run the offense.

While explaining to my football illiterate wife what was happening and why it may be perceived as poor sportsmanship, her response was ?if they don?t like it they should stop them?. Hard to argue with that kind of reasoning.

    She's right...it's our backups.

Our backups practice hard all year long too. Think about being a WR or a QB who works their butt off all year. Finally get the chance in a game and we don't throw a single pass. Just hand it off every play and milk the clock. Did you really get to "play"? No you didn't.

Now imagine you get in, we keep running the offense, you are running routes, catching passes, getting a chance to show what you can do etc....I bet you come back to practice pretty pumped and ready to get better in case you get another opportunity.

Totally absurd. we threw back-to-back deep balls in the final minute up 38-0. I need a break from you guys living in a fantasy world where no class is A-OK.

Playing football during a football game is not having no class.  And we've been burnt stopping our offense before.  How do you know the #4 receiver can catch pass during a game?  You fecking throw it to him during a game.  And they did it first.  They tried to bust our shut-out with a minute left.  If they didn't want us to try to score again they could have run the clock out when they had the ball.  I'm going to stop before I say something worse than what you did.  As many times as we've had the score run up on us by teams daring us to stop them and you're worried about a 38 point game.  We could have left everyone in and scored 60.  If the backups are in that is the extent of sportsmanship required.  If their #1s can't stop our #3s and 4s perhaps they are in the wrong division.

I think we got the ball with 14 seconds left, didn't we? And we threw 2 deep passes. All we had to do was take a knee...

I usually have an opinion on everything...but I don't know what to think about this. What makes it worse is we hadn't thrown deep all game. There were also multiple injuries between both teams. That's usually why coaches get mad at these things. It's one more play or 3 more plays in this case that take a chance on getting guys hurt...

...with that said...I get giving the back-ups playing time. I like the aggressiveness. I like finishing the game. But it was just really a bad look IMO under these exact circumstances. I do not mind doing this with 1:00 minute to play...but I'm pretty sure there was only 14 seconds left.
