  • To whf, the original poster. We have a pretty solid breakfast at Oscar's regardless of what Mr. Ty Work says about us. We didn't become as popular as we are by accident. If you don't mind an owner that is apparently greasy (I've never been called that), I would be happy to treat you and your family to breakfast. It's on me. Just ask for Jason. If I'm not there, just show the server this post.

Also, if you choose not to dine with us, that's cool, but please skip the chain restaurants and hit a local independent restaurant.

Nice we both reference Iron Maiden. But yes, go to Oscar's.

  • We will be in town also and will be looking for some new places to eat.  Love the old favorites.  When we travel, we usually will ask locals where the best places are and not chain restaurants.

You?ve done a great job with Oscars Jason. It?s one of my favorite restaurants. I really look forward to trying out The Corner. The menu and craft selection look fantastic. Might hit it up before the basketball game Friday.

  • I've been busy. 2 restaurants, a new tap room and a new record store. Also, been making myself look greasy.
Is the record store open? I've drove past a few times and it doesn't look like it. If so, what are the hours? I am a huge vinyl collector.

I've tried to get into Oscar's on Sundays twice and it is always packed, usually an hour or more wait. I'm wanting to try it. A buddy of mine said it was real good.

  • Frankly, I'm partial to my homemade french toast and thick cut bacon. lol!

Seriously, it is great to see so many local eateries doing well, gosh knows the wife and I have been to them all more than our fair share of times. I am still waiting on someone to produce a good shredded chicken buffalo wrap.

  • Don't get the diss towards Oscars. I've had breakfast there several times and never been disappointed. Cool place with a roll n roll theme. I would suggest trying it out and judging for yourself.

I agree. I have been there a few times before a game or after a game before heading back to Lexington and never had a bad meal there. Had great service as well. I enjoyed the biscuits and gravy the last time. And it was great. I wish we had a place like that here in Lexington.

  • I originally just posted ?Oscars? because I thought it was obvious.  The reasons that I go there for breakfast on game days are:  1) extremely creative menu; 2) you can have a beer with breakfast; 3) it?s owned by a Herdfan member; 4) the bathroom has the best picture of a girl staring at you at the urinal in America; and 5) the whole vibe is fun.

  • Please don?t eat at a franchised chain restaurant while you?re here. Support local.

Ya know Tudor's and Bob Evans are franchised chains but are also local.  Both franchises started in this area.

  • I know they wouldn?t be considered the best or anything but has anyone ever tried Waffle House? There?s been a couple in the Huntington area for awhile but I?ve never tried them. I skip breakfast now on keto so I don?t eat anywhere. Just wondering how it is. Shoney?s used to have one of the best breakfast bars back in the day as well.

When?s the last time you saw Bob Evans or Tudors sponsor a kids little league team? Donate to a small local non profit? Sponsor a local music or food festival? Sure, they started ?local? but they indisputably haven?t done anything for these communities in a long time.

  • I love Waffle House, but never been there in Huntington.  I live in the South so they are everywhere being an Atlanta chain.  But will go local when I can.
