  • I think a lot of coaches make statements like that when they are hired.  In their hearts I think they mean it and believe it when they say it, a few years later they end up being fired rather than walking away.

Coaches are competitors, just like the athletes themselves. Athletes all the time say they want to retire before they become washed up and make statements like they'll retire "When I'm no longer able to play at a high level" or "When I'm no longer helping this team"

But, in reality, when you're a competitor it's hard to see it yourself. You always feel like you're this close to getting back to form and it clouds your judgment.

I know your position but Dan has got us two things I've personally never see before (or after):

    1. Marshall playing in the NCAA tournament
    2. Marshall winning an NCAA tournament game

    I'm thankful for both

  • Just like coach Huff, I think D'Antoni needs to evaluate his coaching staff at the end of the season. No need in making changes now. Who are you going to get to replace someone? As for the NCAA tournament appearance and win, it's time, I think, to stop using that as a reason to give Danny some slack. If we don't go to the tournament this year, it will be the third straight season we didn't make a NCAA appearance (no tournament in 2020). As for someone saying he should have never been hired, he did bring some excitement back to Marshall basketball. But that excitement is starting to go away. The best way to bring that excitement back is not starting the season struggling to get a win and losing two games you had no business losing.
