3 point shooting stats....good news??

  • As most here agree, our shooting has been disappointing and needs to improve to have a great season.  I suppose it's good to be winning while not shooting well.  I think it's also good that I don't see anyway over the course of the season that TK and AT don't improve their 3 pt percentages.  Both are at a disappointing 17% now and both need to be at least in the 30-33% range.  I think they can both get there and Taylor can be higher than that.

Also, the guys shooting the worst right now are in general, taking the most 3 point shots other than Marko/Byers.

Reviewing the stats below we only have 4 guys shooting at an acceptable or good %.  The players not shooting an acceptable % have taken 66 of three pointers while the guys shooting decent to good have taken 44 three pointers.  I'm thinking that at least Byers and Marko will stay in the 33-38% range for the year which is good, Taylor should get there too.  TK needs to be in the 31-33% range and will get there.  I doubt Goran stays at 50% and not sure he will even maintain a good percentage but maybe he will and I hope so.  Early at 33% can probably maintain that level as well.  Really need Oak and George to get in the high 20s to 30% shooting three pointers, would really help out.  Team has some potential.

    Stats

Player    Percentage   Attempts    # of attempts on team
    Taylor         17%                29                First
    Serenec      41%                17                second
    George       20%               15               third
    Byers         39%              13                fourth
    Kinsey        17%              12                fifth
    Oak           20%              10                sixth
Braun                                             seventh.  but not in rotation now
    Goran        50%               8                 eighth
    Early         33%                6                 ninth

  • George?s game doesn?t include 3pters, handling the ball, or free throws. OAK has time to improve his shooting.
Taylor is one of the most prolific scorers in Ky history, he?ll be okay.

I dont think our games would have been as close if he was his normal shooting self .

  • I want them to shoot if they're feeling it and pass if they're not.  Pretty easy concept, and, with our iffy rebounding sometimes, passing to the hot hand or setting up the better percentage shot will also lead to more points and less wasted possessions.  As Dan mentioned, get those easy baskets in transition after defensive stops.

More than one way to skin that cat.

Does he even have a jump shot? Looks like it just stands there and throws it up. Very unusual.

  • Bummer!

I thought that this thread was going to inform us that Danny D. had just signed the "next" Klay Thompson!  :D
