I thought it was going to be Corny? Least thats what the practice guys have said.

not a "practice guy" but as I recall they said that DD would like to see Corny follow him.  I don't know why the need to misquote them or bust on them but that seems to be the thing on here now, I guess that is why they don't give much info or opinion anymore here.  I think we all know that it is very rare (if at all) that a HC can name or influence who his successor is.  Refer to back to the almighty BP's recommendation of Larry Kueck for FB.  I guess either way the program got tanked back then.  In any case, back to Corny, the only way I see that happening is the program is rolling at a high level driven by this fantastic offensive system so the boys better get busy quickly if they want DD to have any input whatsoever.

I didn?t read SV?s post as busting on the practice guys so much as trying to identify where he got the idea from.

But then again there do seem to be some posters who like to bust on other posters, that seems to be a thing on here now..

Not busting on them at all. Just going on what they have said for some time. I was under the impression it was a given that Corny was the HC in waiting. Thats why I responded.  No reason for anyone to get uptight about it.

  • With a new Prez and AD coming on , they may want to move on from DD and everything DD related , who knows ? Im not saying theyll can him first chance they get but new people usually want their own in there . I think DD will get evaluated along with all the other sports coaches when their contracts are up.

Correct BarryB. Just responding to the poster that from what we were lead to believe, Corny was the HC in waiting. AW would be an awesome hire, but if Corny is set to take over, I'm cool with that. DD must have supreme faith in him.

  • If we have a coaching change there should be a search.  We have not reached championships with the head coach so why would we promote an assistant of said coach?

Nothing against Corny, but he?s never been a head coach. I think AW would be a perfect fit for our school. He?s my coach in waiting, until I see otherwise.

I'm of the same mind as SV, I'd be happy to see either one of them as our next HC.

Right now I'm not worried about our next HC in BB, I am of the opinion DD has one of his better teams this year and the foundation set for next two or three years.  I'm far more interested in watching this season, letting DD decide what is best for DD and we'll worry about the next coach when DD decides to move on or fails to live up to my current expectations.

no one is uptight.  if I'm wrong I'll gladly apologize.  since you are doubling down on "we were led to believe Corny was the HC in waiting" I'd love to see the comments that "led you to believe" that.  should be easy enough.  there are only a handful of "practice guys".  I'd love to see where they stated that was going to happen with certainty to the point he is the HC in waiting or for that matter, where they said anything other than that is what DD would like to see happen.

Herdmeister?  you are a practice guy, have you heard anyone say Corny is for certain the HC in waiting?

Hey, if I read the posts wrong, then I'll man up and apologize. I really thought a few guys in the know said that Corny was to be the next HC once DD retired. If that's wrong then my bad. I really don't care either way. If DD has faith in him then lets roll.

I have no idea if that's still the case or if it was ever actually true....I just know some of the basketball posters have indicated this over the years.

  • When Corny was brought in there were several posts indicating DD had hopes of grooming him as the next HC.

With MU being a state school I'm fairly sure such plans are hopes only and can't "be on paper."  I'm pretty sure state law would require advertising the job and going through some sort of formal process, even if the actual decision is a forgone conclusion.

  • interesting. i heard the tv folks say wvu has shot 28 fouls and eku 11. game in morganhole.

You'd expect anything DIFFERENT, Gaylen, up in the Hole in a game against a mid major nonconference foe?

Another factor that has to be considered, TTT, is that Danny has the "ACE in the Hole" thing going with his sister on the BOG, I believe.  Some would say possible "nepotism", but not sure as she is only indirectly involved, if at all, on the hiring/firing in the Athletic Department.  Still, I guess she's available to make/support the case for Danny if the issue would come in at BOG meetings.

  • Going back to the "topic", or at least the "name", did anyone notice the result of EKU's most recent game?

As good as A Dub's Colonels played up in Morganhole, they apparently came back to earth Sunday down in Virginia playing Radford (now 3-4).  RU thumped EKU 88-75, outshooting the Colonels 55% to 34% and outrebounding them by about 20!

A lot of teams apparently playing "hot and cold" this early in the season.  Maybe we'd best put the "coaching speculation" aside until there is some more thorough and relative data to evaluate.  Or until it looks like that the HERD is definitely in the market for a new HC!  :)

  • DD had said he hoped Duhan would take over the program until he started having trouble off the court.  I think he feels same about Corny and I am fine with that but the winning/progress of the program will have to be taken up quite a few notches or that won't be much of a possibility.

Yep, the boys left it all on the court up at Morgantown. Looked like they needed one more day of rest.
