I WANT to win these games but I don?t expect to. That?s why they are called upsets when they happen. We played well?really well at times, but I think if you compared the money and resources of IU basketball to Marshall bball, you would expect more than a 11 point loss on the road. It was a fun game to watch as a fan. We competed well. We are going to have a really good season if they keep making progress.
All right, thunderingon, let's see what's going on elsewhere in basketball in D1. Let's talk about "upsets". Obviously, you don't know that they are more commonplace than you think. Happen quite often, even tonight.
So, let's see. Tonight, Monmouth beat Cincy, 61-59; N. Iowa beat #16 St. Bonnie, 90-80; UMBC beat the ACC's Pitt, 87-79; and Winthrop beat the PAC-12's Washington, 82-74. Oh, by the way, all four of the winning teams were playing ON THE ROAD!! Just like MU at Indiana.
But all we get, as HERD fans is: they won't play in Huntington, or our Athletic Director won't let us play in neutral site tournaments, or, excuse. . .excuse . . ., excuse! Underdogs, even "mid major" underdogs, go on the road and win, sometimes even against major foes. Other times against other, supposedly better, mid major foes (see Campbell, for example).
You want to tell me that Monmouth has more funds, resources for its basketball program than Cincinnati; or UMBC more than Pitt, Winthrop vs. the PAC 12's Washington?
But I guess MU fans are supposed to relax and enjoy it. Losing is such "FUN". At least to some on here!
