So a walk on in his second season, at least, with virtually NO PT to speak of, is going to start over Early, a scholarship player in his second year who has playing experience.  Says a lot on how DD and his staff are "developing" the "talent" they recruit, IMO!

I believe the game tonight is huge. Cannot let this losing streak go on much longer. No matter what they say, this will get into the heads of the players. If what has been said pans out, this could be our best outside shooting team on the floor. Beyers and Collins, from what people say, can stroke it from deep. We've seen flashes of that with Beyers. Defense may be another story. We know what Obinna can do. If Kinsey plays his game, he is a good defender. Beyers, in the past, has shown he cannot play defense. At times, Early looked good this year. Against EKU, he was playing really tight man-to-man defense, not allowing passes to his man and not being beat off the dribble. Would love to see that again from him. Collins we know nothing about. If George and Toussaint can't play, we will only have 10 players. Cannot afford to get into foul trouble. Unless something happens, I will be there tonight rooting this team on, possibly getting frustrated, and hoping for a win.

Will be interesting to see how the team responds to the adversities it faces.  Players out, losing streak.  We are still very early in conference play, lots of time to turn the season around.  Most people thought we had a deep bench.  Hopefully we have some guys step up the haven't played much and get a win tonight.  Go Herd.

I watched yesterday Collins was on the 2nd 5 and was lighting the first team up, DD switched him to first team and he didn't miss a beat I'd say he made 15 3s in that scrimmage. I think he just needs playing time and we will have us another  loop.

If the above info is true, and those are the starters and Taylor/George are out, look for another double digit loss.  Kinsey will force even more shots with AT out.  He will go like 7-25 from the field with 6 turnovers.  And Early and Beyers will combine for 4-17 from the perimeter.  If OAK can stay out of foul trouble, he may keep us in it with a solid double/double game.  I?m not buying into this group until they string 4 or 5 solid consecutive games.

Yeah and some kids don?t do much in practice but flip a switch when it comes game time.

Let's be honest.....this team has slow feet on the defensive end. There is little talent for Marshall in terms of stopping opposing players that just get beat off the dribble or breakdown us individually on defense. We are slow of foot.

With that said, we may have a few that look good in practice, but when we play a team with more speed and athletic talent.....the tune changes. Collins or others may look good in practice because they are playing guys with similar speeds and motors as they each have.

FAU tonight either went downhill on dribble penetration (which created open looks from the perimeter) or their guards broke our defenders down out on the wing and drove the ball to the basket with ease tonight. It was ALL NIGHT LONG.

This Marshall team has a lot of "nice guys". That is good. But sometimes you need some athletes that have an edge out there. FAU had a few out there tonight. I never really felt we were going to win in the second half because we simply can't put a five out there that make consistent stops on several trips down the floor.
