Maybe I'm mixing this up, but I believe Cline is responsible for the big men. He has been here a long time and I haven't seen a single big man improve their game, aside from Penava. What am I missing that keeps him on the staff?
You can't be in your 3rd and 4th year and making mistakes left and right in a 2min span. The guys, Goran, Beyers, etc. that people complain get benched to quick need to be producing more when given the chance after being in the program this long. You get an opportunity and give up 6pts due to mental lapses and turnovers in a matter of 5 minutes and produce nothing on offense then you should hit the bench.
Sorry, but that's all on DANNY, not Cline. Danny has yapped for years now that "nobody plays with the bact to the basket anymore", citing some of that "Danalytics" crap he uses for excuses. We have Miladinovich, a 7 footer, one of the biggest players in CUSA. So why not, at times, set it up to get him the ball down low in the paint. That means, in practice, have Cline or another assistant work on his footwork in the paint: pivoting, up and under moves, drop step move and then a baby hook from 5 feet or so. Doubt if that is ever done. Cause when he is in the game, Milandinovich is just like everybody else in Kelly Green, jerking up a quick three from anywhere, no matter what the game situation. Its Danny ball, not Mark Cline!! Assistants can only do what the Head Coach wants. And Danny is adamantly against ANY low post, back to the basket, offensive style of play!!
That big guy from Indiana didn't set his career scoring record against the HERD by firing away constantly from 3 point land, for example!
