  • It's literally the worst job in the NFL. You can polish a turd however you want, but it's still a turd.

Some.peiole saying this in here but nobody explains why. Yes they have not produced many winners but that isn't what makes a job good or not... I'll list reasons why it's one of the better current openings...

    First overall pick
    Trevor Lawrence to build on
    Cap space
    Great facilities
    Owner not afraid to spend

They were one drive away from the Super Bowl only 4 years ago. Most of the dumpster fire aspects had more to do with Urban Meyer than anything that would keep Leftwich from succeeding there.

The worst job in the NFL will be the Football Team as long as they have Dan Synder running that organization.

  • I was a huge Trevor Lawrence fan in college and believed he was a can?t miss pro.  He did not show anything this past season to show he will be a good pro.

  • Why do so many think this is a "done deal?"

Yeah, it's very much in doubt now. Sounded like a sure thing when I started this thread two nights ago.

  • Just read more info on this.  Byron is demanding they fire the current GM and hire a guy who has never been a GM that he worked with in Arizona.  Seems like the majority of fans agree but there are also many that don?t like a first time head coach demanding so much.

My guess is it gets done and Byron gets his way.

  • Leftwich got what he wanted with the new GM so I would assume he will be also named HC today.

And yet one of only 4 franchises to never appear in a superbowl. Lawrence isn't a special nfl QB. His college game hasn't translated well to the NFL. He may grow, jury is still out. Those other things haven't done anything for them.

Jacksonville is a joke. One of the best coaches of our time, went there and it ended his entire legacy lol.

He was a strictly college coach. Very few can make it in the NFL. I saw Randy and Rex Ryan discussion about it on ESPN right after he was canned. Byron has been in the NFL coaching system for awhile now and it?s totally different. I don?t believe any NFL job is bad. The right guy can succeed anywhere.

Urban even had an interview last week discussing how challenging it was adjusting to the way NFL practices. He essentially said the NFL wasn't for him. Not to mention I'm pretty sure Jax had nothing to do with all of his off field drama. He dug his own grave.

  • Meyer was a bad hire.  He didn't have the best players anymore.

  • Lol there are bad jobs in the NFL. There are bad GMs, and bad situations. Nobody wants to go in free agency to a team like Jacksonville. Nobody wants to get traded there, or trade for anyone there, and a losing habit is hard to break. Why do you think teams like jacksonville, detroit, the browns, etc have sucked every single year for decades? Just bad luck? Not finding the right coach?

The great Bill sucked in Cleveland and was ran our of town for example and he may be the best nfl coach im history.

There are good and bad jobs, period. But, the good news is, the bfl loves to hire people that failed over and over for HC positions, so you'll get a few chances.

Meyer is the same guy who had Joe Burrow as his 4th string QB. That?s all you need to tell me about his ability to judge talent at the NFL level.

The longer this goes, the less likely Byron to Jacksonville is.

  • The Jaguars GM, Trent Baalke has an awful reputation within the League.  He was the reason Jim Harbaugh left the 49ers.  He was eventially fired there and landed in Jville as Personnel Director.  Some think that he schemed to get the previous GM fired, not to mention his drafts in both places have been not so good.

When did he have Burrow as 4th string QB?

Well that makes sense. Pretty sure burrow was a different player, then. Also thats a heck of a bunch of college guys to sit behind. Glad Burrow got his shot finally. The best QB of all time may have never gotten a chance to play in college, honestly. Alot of guys looked over that never get a chance.

Even the ones that played could be sleepers.  Tom Brady comes to mind.

  • I just heard that BL is pulling his name out.  Seems like he did not get his way in picking his own GM so he passed.

I understand his point but I don?t understand anyone trying to tell a business owner who he needs to hire.  The guy accomplished enough to be a multi billionaire so he should be able to hire or keep who he wants as his GM.  I also think BL did the right thing if he thought he couldn?t work with the current GM.

Smart move. Everyone knows Jacksonville is not a place you want to be a head coach.
