The 8th-ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish (0-1) kick off their home slate tomorrow when they take on the Marshall Thundering Herd (1-0). It's the first ever meeting between the two teams. We've broken the game down, and now it's time for the Irish Breakdown staff to make its predictions for the game.

Not much respect here, but expect for the really wild predictions, I agree with them. I'm not feeling the Herd of old where being at Kansas State, Ohio State, Clemson, Georgia, Tennessee, etc. was a chance to show-case and win a game.  Hope we can still get back to those days, and the sooner the better.

Was listening to the Dan Patrick show and one of the guys said he thinks Marshall will cover the points against Notre Dame. DP didn't have that same confidence. He said Marshall will cover the points in the first half but not the whole game. National recognition has started before kickoff.

My head says we get beat by 21 simply because the ND defense looked legit last week and our WRs struggle getting separation.  However you can just feel something building for the Herd.  I?m not sure it will be this weekend but I can sense good times are right around the corner.

Where would a win here rank among the biggest in team history? I?d put it behind the 1-AA championships, but it would be the biggest win otherwise.

You forget we had a real leader back in those days, Bobby Pruett, not the pale imitation of him that we have today. The one who shops his services out like an Uber driver at the hint of a Power 5 job opening.

Wow you truly have faith in this team!!!!!  Marshall is a stepping stone school, as are all of the G5 programs.  We lucked out with Pruett who was perfectly content with semi retiring with The Herd.  If Huff gets plucked after this year or next, I will be nothing but supportive because he will have put us in the mix for the access bowl spot or a SBC title.  Our last lifer was Huffs predecessor and we all know how those years turned out.   Huff has breathed life into this program, he is active in the community and he can get some solid recruits as well as utilizes the transfer portal.   Yea he went 7-6 in his first year as a HC but we beat ourselves in the majority of our losses or our pedestrian air attack kept us one dimensional.  What did Huff do this off-season?  Rather than wait and see if Wells would develop and progress, he went out and grabbed us an experienced QB as well as bolster our entire roster.  We are deep, we are fast, we looked great last week (yea yea it was Norfolk but they flat out destroyed them). Huff is our coach and I?m thankful.  The stadium looks much better with the tarps, turf, and little additions, the stadium looked packed last week, he is creating a buzz?.At least have legitimate evidence when trying to bash our team/coach.    Go burn some couches and get white girl wasted on some Steel Reserve.   SMH

     Notre Dame 31

This is my heart pick.  I want to believe this team is a force to be reckoned with and we shall see what they do against a top 10 team

2.  Notre Dame 38
     Marshall.     24

Marshall comes out swinging and battles throughout the first half but can?t keep up all 4 quarters


Here?s a fun fact:  Arkansas State has been giving Ohio State a tougher game than many expected and OSU took care of ND, and I believe we would crush Ark State so we may be able to pull this off.  Rudy was offsides btw
