  • By now, does anyone else feel pretty sure that we have finally heard from Bagent's every KNOWN relative on this site?  I realize that there may be a family "black sheep" or two who may pop up on here later on about the totally astronomical exploits of Tyson!!  ;)

By now, does anyone else feel pretty sure our staff dropped the ball by not offering this kid out of high school, and then again, by not going after him in the portal?

  • Marshall has more Cusa title game shots as well had Holliday took Ethan Ratke to kick fg.  He only ended as the all time ncaa points leader.

Who else went after him in the portal, 129?  Did they get him?  If not, is he still at Shepherd?  Playing D-II competition perhaps where he belongs?  So eventually he ends up a 5th, 6th, etc., round draft choice?  What in wide, wide world of sports does THAT FACT absolutely guarantee that he would have been the Savior of MU football?  Just not rationale to believe that!  Sorry!!

  • Tyson Bagent is better than any qb on Marshall?s roster.  Watch the tape.  Watch the footwork.  Watch the throws.  Just like catos tape was obvious he was the best qb in his incoming class.  Bagent is better than any qb at Marshall, including grant wells.  Tape is tape

He was not leaving Shepherd. He will get an nfl shot and no qb that has started after litton left will get an nfl shot unless one of the TFR do in a few years.  marshall passed on Bagent and like they passed on ethan Ratke messed up the W-L column

  • I can tell you another Qb infinitely better than any on our roster and that's the Ohio U Qb. I only needed to see 1 drive here in this Buffalo game to know.   It's flat out pathetic we can't bring in someone even halfway decent while programs like OU land them frequently.

  • Found the below on the Internet. Some of the posters really need to find a  WVIC message board.  ;D

Check the below site for a Senior Bowl Scouting Notes.
Pros: Throws a beautiful deep touch ball and has a quick release.
Cons: Accuracy is not great. Not very mobile or athletic. Placement is all over the place. Struggles to get the ball on the right side of the receiver. His Cons are much numerous than his pros in the below site.

I guess his lack of speed and mobility hurt his portal prospects. If he slow is at the  Division II level, just think how slow he would be at the Division I level.
    https://nfldraftblitz.com/2022/10/04/2023-senior-bowl-watchlist-scouting-notes-qb-tyson-bagent-shepherd/

One NFL draft sites seem to think he might get drafted in the 4th or 5th round. He is definitely not in the top group of QB that will be drafted. Not many 4th or 5th round QB make it in the NFL, simple supply and demand.  Again, he is not mentioned much on NFL draft sites.

"Tape is tape" . . . AGAINST D-II Competition!!  Sorry, there is a DIFFERENCE, nimrod!  Has he ever played even against a FCS team while at Shepherd?  Until then, he can only be evaluated on how he looks against other D-II caliber teams/players.

Best wr in NFL ... D2

Then why don't you go worship D2 ball, SUCKA$$?  This is a MU BOARD!!  You and 129 need to go somewhere else and JERK OFF to Bagent, Shepherd football, Martinsburg HS football, and D2 football in general.  Truth is these folks you worship are not at MU, haven't been at MU, won't be at MU so they don't figure in on what will make MU better, despite what you have or have not observed watching them play HS and Division II football!!

  • He is averaging 320 yds game. 72% completion. 28 TDs. 4 int.

Yes but division 2 is division 2. Whether that kid can do it at D1 level is as questionable as any kid who plays well in high school. Sometimes that game doesn't translate. Receivers are not as good, defenses not nearly as good. That's not to say that some can and would/will play well at D1 or any level, but there is absolutely no guarantee that they will because they are good at the D2 level either. Same as many great D1 QBs suck in the pros.

But, i do know that Fancher or Colombi are worse than Bagent

  • My understanding is we offered Bagent and we even promised him the the starting job.  He chose to stay put because Huntington is such a tough place to live.  Not sure where he heard that....

  • I know some folks are tired of this because he has been discussed on here for at least 3 years, but he would be a better option than anyone else we could have trotted out there. He is on the senior bowl watch list of 435 players. What Marshall QB is on that list?  Yes, he?s D2, but he won the award as the best D2 player, means he is better than his competition level. And yes, he is projected as a mid round draft pick. The closest our QBs will get to the draft is watching it in a sports bar.

Given all that, he?s not here and won?t be, so I understand why some don?t care, but the kid can play and has a great career. If we would have recruited him out of HS he would be the starter here.

One thing about Tyson I like alot, he sees the whole field and at least he can throw the ball deep. I have to agree, I don't get it why Tyson wasn't recruited to play here...
