  • Here is the skinny on Bagent

Three scouts from NFL teams show up at practice almost daily.
He is projected as a mid-round draft pick.
He received an offer from Maryland.

I hope you realize that this kind of talk is BS. He might get a undrdafted FA tryout. Mid round lol.

  • He was not leaving Shepherd. He will get an nfl shot and no qb that has started after litton left will get an nfl shot unless one of the TFR do in a few years.  marshall passed on Bagent and like they passed on ethan Ratke messed up the W-L column
Then WHY are we discussing him?!?!?!?!? :o

  • Mid round draft pick for a guy that was only offered a backup job at a bad P5 school. I'm not saying it's not possible, but something doesn't add up here.

  • I found it ironic that people say the basketball team will never know how good they are playing all D1 teams except one but then people say Tyson Bagent is the real deal playing against Edinboro, Kutztown, Lockhaven, Millersville, Mercyhurst and East Shrewsburg.

  • I'm going to take a different approach. He wasn't recruited because Martinsburg. I only got to watch the state title games. They ran a spread with 4 WRs who could all go. Not many HS teams have 4 DBs that could go with them. I think, myself included, thought this made him look better than true talent.

To loop it to Marshall, in Bagnets senior year, Travis Lee was the man. The offense was pretty unstoppable at Martinsburg... Owen Porter was the best player on the field that day and no doubt in my mind if he doesn't get hurt Spring Valley has a state title.

  • Tyreek Hill was only "D2" because he got kicked outta Oklahoma State for choking out his girlfriend.

Austin Reed at WKU is a very mediocre QB. I know the stats look pretty good, but I've watched him in a few games and he doesn't look that impressive. Any QB is going to rack up stats in an offense that throws the ball around 65% of the time. He threw for 320 yards last week but it took 49 attempts and he only put up 13 points at home on North Texas.

Hell, Fancher had over 300 yards last week solely because we immediately went down 21-0 and had to be the same way. But his QBR was 16.2. Nobody who watched that game would say he had a great performance.

I spent two years at Shepherd and watched several of their games. The gap between D2 and FCS is enormous and much larger than the gap between FBS and FCS.

The idea that Bagent or any other D2 QB could possibly be the answer to our woes is asinine. All but the best QB's would fail here with our OL and offensive play calling. And any somewhat competent QB would flourish in WKU's system.

Tyson Bagent's name or any other QB for that matter wouldn't be coming up if we had a decent QB now and we were winning... ::)

  • Everyone said the same thing about Stevie Browning when he came here from Fairmont. I would argue Marshall needs to use the WVIAC teams as a pipeline in both sports. There?s a couple guys that could def play for us and contribute.

Back to Bagent, he would easily be the best QB on our roster right now.

  • Still would like to know why we are talking about Bagent? I could see it if he wanted to come and Huff said no. But why do we keep comparing him? I haven't seen anything that said he wanted to be here. He is at Shepherd for a reason. He went into the portal and saw very little interest. You would think he would want to be anywhere besides Shephard. Good Lord have you seen their schedule? It's barely above WV high School football.

Remember when Alex Thomson was a can't miss NFL prospect when he transferred here because Phil Simms said so?  His career really took off 🙄

That's not fair. After his mom told us his shoulder was messed up and that's why the big schools backed off I just felt for him. None of that was in his control.

If his shoulder was shot, why come here?  Doesn't make much sense.

129 the Mountain East is no guarantee as a source for what MU needs in any sport.  Yeah, there have been individuals in some schools in that League who were capable of playing at a higher level, but I doubt there are enough of them year in and year out for MU to consider relying on as an ongoing source of talent.  Yep, we get a player like Stevie Browing in basketball ever so often. But looking back, I'd bet that more players have gone the other way much more often:  MU to a Mountain East/WVIAC school.  Guys like Tink Brown, Rommel "Stuff" Lynch, etc. in basketball back in the Greg White days.

His mom didn't want him to. She wanted him to just focus on school. He was still hoping to rehab and make it work. Can't blame a kid for being a competitor and a staff giving a kid with talent a chance. It makes plenty of sense.

I guess all these posts about Bagent being a mid-round pick didn?t age very well.
