  • Post-game wrap-up radio show indicated crowd was 5100 and change.  Have a real successful road swing and crowds will continue their uptick, IMO!

Keep in mind that with the new seating configuration we can only sell about 6,000. We averaged that for a few years prior to covid

Question, will The Henderson Center ever go back to its original seating configuration? I see other arenas in college basketball and they seem to have their original seating.

That's the plan. Until we can get back to consistently sell over 6k they want to compact the area for a better home court advantage by all being closer the action. Much like football has done

Plus I don't think Spears liked the idea of no handrails up there. And I'm starting to wonder if the new court will even be here this year.  I could have cut the thing down myself to fit and installed it by myself already. Something is starting to not sound right in all this to me.

I sent a couple of emails to Mike H over the years telling him that MU was going to have a lawsuit from someone falling down the upper section stairs.  I've helped dozens of older fans navigate the stairs over the years.

Yep. The wife is afraid she'll fall one of these days. If she does, I am retaining Marshall Mark for his services. lol!

  •  It's not just the bleacher seats. The upper bowl chairbacks have no rails unlike the lower bowl chairbacks.

  • I would love to see them partition off the bleacher seats, hide them from view. It could be done with plastic wraps that look great if done properly, less expensive than other permanent partitioning products (wood, plastic panelling, etc) and fashioned to be very promotive.

They were supposed to have a pull down type tarp on rollers to cover them. It seems basketball is starting to be put on the back burner again. The new floor was bought months ago and was supposed to be put in while we played at Queens. Then it was said it needed to be cut down to fit. We are now going into gam nine and still no floor and no covering for the bleachers.

I don't think that's the case at all. Some times it takes a while to get everyone in sync. The floor issue isn't Spears fault. Some things he can't control. The dude has some ground to make up for years of neglect from the previous administration. We'll see how it goes.

Well it's getting beyond ridiculous!!! The floor should be down period!!! This has been known since summer. They kept putting it off and off and then finally said it would be done while the team as at Queens in time for the first home game. Then it was said to be to big and needed trimmed down. Who in the world was over that cluster$;&$? And on top of that, how long does it take to trim it down? There is no urgency and people are dragging their feet. At least the cam got some new garbage cans that looks better so I guess it's a start!!!

That's on the company. They would be the one to confirm the dimensions, time to manufacture, deliver and install. Marshall can't control any of that. I would assume we won't be using them in the future.

One more thing on this, I do wish Spears would start sending out something like "From the AD's desk" or something similar.  Maybe he does, I don't know.  But just something short like the projects with a vision, projects that are being worked on, status of projects, projects completed, etc...It would keep folks engaged, ask less questions which lead to complaints and might even get some to want to be more involved.  The 1st of every month put out an update.  JMO

  • Got a reply back today about the floor. Said the facilities team had a plan to get the floor down quickly for Marshall basketball.

Hey bust, don't rupture a blood vessel!!  We're SEVEN and ONE and plenty of action to come.  New floor will get in soon, probably before conference play begins at the end of the year!  Take your own advice and "ENJOY the ride"!  :D

I am enjoying the basketball team but getting tired of the program getting out on the back burner. This was bought in the summer and been put off and off.

Well, originally, the facility held 10,250 according to the official listed capacity, for basketball.  Over the years, that has "downsized" for various reasons, and the current listed capacity, again for various reasons, particularly Huntington's longstanding population decline and chronic economic morass plus MU's lack of any significant growth in enrollment for a decade or so, is way more than adequate.

I have thought for years that MU, AD Hamrick, etc., should have had a study done to see how much it would cost to replace all the upper bleachers with chairback seats.  Take the space for every THREE bleacher seats and see if 2 chairback seats could be installed in the same area, for example.  If, by doing so, for example, we could have ended up with anywhere from 7,000 to 7500 total seating capacity in the arena, with all chairbacks except for the end zone bleachers, this would have been better off for both the fans and the University overall than the present 9,048 current capacity which includes hundreds of seldom if ever used bleachers in the upper nosebleed areas of the CAM!!
