  • Danny was told the new floor will be delivered on Monday the 12th and installed on Tuesday while the team is in North Carolina.
At the same time the upper bleachers will be covered.

So we will be playing our first game on the floor on Saturday the 17th vs Toledo.
Also assuming the beer commission acts quickly enough, beer will also be available for sale to those of you that want such

  • On a side note, and speaking of beer, has anyone had the Country Boy Herd Country Lager?

Haven't had a chance to drink one (or two...or three) and was wondering how good it is.

It's like your average domestic. (Budweiser, Miller Lite, etc). Probably better. I've bought it a few times now.

It's the Country Boy Super Premium Lager in a different package.  It's a lawnmower beer but a craft lawnmower beer so about three steps above the typical macro brews.  Nice bready aroma with some grassy flavor and very mild bitterness.  Finishes very clean.  At 4% a.b.v., you could have several and still be under the limit.

  • Herd Country Lager is, IMHO, is a near-Yengling lager, a bit spicy and a good, smooth flavor; very easy to drink.

Nice to hear it's a lawnmower beer. Extremely drinkable and pairs well with most food. Thanks for the description!

  • It was $10 a can inside the Joan lol.  I?m sure it will probably be the same in the Cam.  Good beer but no one can of beer is worth $10 even in a stadium.  Stadium prices for concessions across the sporting world are crazy out of control.

I wouldn't pay a $1. But anyone that would pay $10 for a can of beer has to already be drunk.

  • I guess some folks see it as a way to generate a little revenue for the school and sports teams that they support.

  • Confirmed that beer won't be for sale in the Cam until January 17, unfortunately. Ridiculous that it's taking this long.

All it takes is one phone call from President Smith to Governor Justice and the license would be expedited quickly.

  • This thread is silly.  Shouldn't be so difficult to get a floor that fits and the fact beer has been sold already at the football stadium should be enough to sell beer at the Cam.

Floor was from the NCAA Tournament.  Obviously inside the lines are the same however what is outside the lines could be bigger than the area we have.   Based on how our floor area and bleachers is designed even if it is off a small amount there could be problems with safety etc.

As for alcohol?the issue had to due with some ordinance or regulation based on where the Cam is sitting.  I don?t remember the exact reason I was told. Reach out to the AD and he can better explain but that is the issue. We had to get it changed before moving forward with alcohol sales.  And like a lot of things in this world changing things like that can take longer than expected right or wrong.   Trust me. I have dealt with those things in a past job in government.

Honestly I am not so sure why people are concerned about it. Stuff happens and delays can happen. Fortunately our current floor works fine.  The bigger thing to be appreciative is our athletic department made the effort to make changes.  We now have a practice facility for basketball, we have a new floor coming, changes in the Cam.  New renovations coming to the football stadium including a scoreboard that will be massive. Party decks, suites etc. While I look forward to seeing the new floor out down there will be a segment of our fan base that will complain about it due to colors.  Quite frankly I care more about the play on the floor than the colors of the floor or uniforms and right now our kids and staff are playing well and that is what matters.

Last paragraph = well said. Rome wasn't built in a day. I am sure Spears is playing catch up on many items that needed attention for years.

Well the tip off club bought the floor and the Skagg family gave the money for the gullickson remodel. Regardless the delay of the floor was BS. Who would be the idiot running things that didn't realize it needed measured? And besides that the floor was bought way back in the summer and was put off and off and finally at the last minute was said to be put in while the team was at Queens. There was no reason for the delay. Just like the curtains or tarps weren't put in upstairs. Did you see any delays with the football tarps?

No way in hell Marshall would measure that floor without company reps. being there as well. It would be a huge liability for Marshall. Sounds like the company hired to do the job screwed up and had to rush to fit it in with the other projects they likely had going on.

  • Maybe this is a stupid question, but what is wrong with our current court? Why is this an urgent need? I don't know the lifespan of a basketball court, but I'd assume it's long if taken care of properly. Somebody educate me on courts.

It needed resurfaced because we joined SB. It doesn't have anymore standings left in it per specs. That is why the lanes are lighter now because it needed CUSA taken off and SB put on. It was done for Volleyball and the new floor was supposed to be in by the first game.

  • Jeeze bust, just lighten up about the floor!  Take a cue from your "HerO":  Coach D.   I don't see him moaning and groaning every time he turns around about the floor situation at the CAM.  In fact, just the contrary.  Danny seems pretty upbeat and enthusiastic.  Could it just be he's pretty pleased on how his team has been performing on the CURRENT FLOOR at the CAM?

As you often say, bust, "enjoy the ride"!!  The floor situation, per most of the posts, will be taken care of soon!! Right now the focus needs to be on the HERD and their quest tonight to take care of Duquesne's Dukes on their HOME FLOOR, no matter what shape it happens to be in!!  GO HERD!!!!!!!!!!!!!
