2001 was when it was official, although uniforms had trended darker before that. Don't quote me in the exact here, but Marshall changed its official color to Pantone 357c or something like that, which was a darker green than before.

I recall the official logo and color stuff from the early 2000s and I can't say for sure when the hunter green crept in, but all I know is I have a closet full of sweat shirts about 90s championships and/or bowl wins that are hunter green.

As said in another post, I think the new floor looks great. Be interesting to see what the arena looks like now that the upper deck bleachers are tarped

Ole Mr. Spears is catching some heat on some social media platforms for not having the footprints on the floor. To me he seems a little out of touch with some of the history around Marshall athletics. Hopefully, that changes. On another note, the floor design looks very appealing and hopefully we see wins on the new hardwood.

I see theres a petition to get the footprints put back. Is this a Spears oops or what ? Is there some type of silly NCAA rule prohibiting what can be put on a court ? I dont see what harm it did plus every team that comes in here is always amazed at the actual distance

I have to imagine it is a NCAA rule and we were grandfathered in with existing floor.

Well, I believe it was Wade Gilley who was the MU President in 2001.  Gilley also at that time, or during his tenure, forecast that MU would have 20,000 or more students by around 2020.  That went about just as well as the "Hunter Green" color in MU athletics, no matter who selected the color!!

They traced the exact location where Bruce Morris made the longest shot in NCAA History... and the record still stands as far as I know.  It would be hard to beat since he was almost on the baseline.

Either 88 or 89 feet and change, IIRC!  I think Morris took the inbounds pass and had no time to do anything but pivot and heave it towards the goal at the other end of the court!

I thought he got a rebound and then did that but either way? the footprints need to be back. I?m actually pretty pissed about it myself. Where is this petition cause I would like to sign it.

Actually Skeeter Roberts blocked a shot that went to Bruce and he turned and heaved it length of the floor.

I'm not anti-Spears, I think he's well qualified and has the potential to do great things for our Athletic Department.  With that said, these are the kind of things you encounter when you hire someone with no ties to the university.  I'm sure he didn't think it was a big deal to the HERD fans.  I expect that Spears will reverse course on his decision to honor what was done before he arrived. If not, he'll burn a bridge with a group of fans that won't forget the disrespect.

No it was President Dan Angel that installed the Michigan State dark green look.

Wasn't Angel the person responsible for changing the Marco Sailor/Beanie to the current Marco? I had a relative on the Alumni Committee who told me that MU felt the old Marco was frighting to children, really what about schools that use a tiger.

Anyway, didn't Angel refuse the Pharmacy School that Senator Byrd offer MU? The school ended going to Morris Harvey or whatever they call it now. Anyway, Angel was forced out at MU.

The S and H in Marshall are covered on the baseline by the base of the backboard.

Floor looked great today.  While I loved old Marco, I like the Block M better for where we are at now.  Need to establish our brand in SBC.  The ?Be Like Bruce? idea was a joke.  Just paint 2 frickin feet on the court.

Either Mark Martin or Bob Bowen said the footprints are back on tonight's broadcast, but there was no close-up offered as proof.

Of course one of them said O'Binna had caused a Toledo turnover by scraping the ball off of a driving Toledo players knee but it was clearly Goran that did that. I've adopted Goran until Bust gets off his back. Assist on a corner trey by Taylor, a steal, a bucket, that turnover caused, and a blocked shot - all in the first half.

Kudos to Danny for bringing Goran on as rest for Handlogten (over Toussaint) the last couple of games. Goran making the most of his chance this year - very aggressive like someone posted.
