OK.  Fair enough.  So, a 54 percent winning percentage over 8 seasons certainly qualifies as a "PATTERN".  Eight Seasons (Years) are certainly a matter of "TIME".  So, comparing some score or scores of what one or more of our opponents did against some "major: foe or foes is IRRELEVANT using one poster's criteria for evaluating a program:  "patterns over time matter".  Simple as that!

The patter is year one was a cleaning house. And last year was a flub no doubt. Take out those 2 years and add up the other 7. Pretty good pattern to me!!!

  • No one is discarding the wins just trying to keep things in context.  Duquesne's schedule is pretty weak too and they may very well finish in last place in A10. Hopefully we win and hopefully they surprise in their league and give us a SOS boost. It is not, however, a novel idea that you don't have to live vicariously through your opponent's schedules when it was available to play some better teams yourselves.

The very good news is MU, although not having beaten anyone with a current winning record, has had very little trouble dispatching it's opponents since Queens.  I hope it turns out well and not like the 2014 FB team where we might have had a shot at an Access Bowl had we had a better OOC schedule. For BB it would be a self inflicted wound.  Other than 2-3 road conf games we will probably be favored in every other game the rest of the season. Because of the league they play in, tonight is a very big game. Safe travels to all who are going.

Government is the most dangerous institution known to man. Throughout history it has violated the rights of men more than any individual or group of individuals could do: it has killed people, enslaved them, sent them to forced labor and concentration camps, and regularly robbed and pillaged them of the fruits of their expended labor. ~ JOHN HOSPERS

Agree.  Looking at Conference records overall throughout the country and you'll find that there are literally "boatloads" of teams right now with just ONE loss, like MU.  Best thing, and really the ONLY thing, the HERD can do is just to keep winning, regardless of the opponent.  With NO major foes on the regular season schedule the ceiling for our NET rating is obviously going to be pretty low.  Herd needs to avoid stubbing its toe like at Queens against any additional teams that we should/would normally defeat 8 or 9 times out of 10.  Keep winning, wider, perhaps national, attention will come MU's way, maybe even a vote or votes in the "Others receiving votes" section of the polls.  Perhaps attaining an "At Large" bid to the Big Dance  is not possible, no matter what.  But Marshall can still put itself in the best position it can if a NIT bid would be in our future.  It is there, like in the NCAA tourney, where MU would get its only real shot at a Major, nationally known foe, here in 2022-23, and a real chance on a neutral floor to boost its stature nationally in D1 basketball!

Enjoy!  But try and keep the real "facts" in mind.  Part of the overall picture, like it or not, Bison.
