  • Nice.  Now let's just hope the final product(s) are anywhere close to these "renderings".  Past experience with MU Capital Projects, Athletic AND Academic, should have taught us that very often plans are greatly altered, and at times unrecognizable, in the final product, or facility, that MU actually ends up with!!

One other comment:  The JOAN scoreboard shown would certainly indicate, it appears, that the South End Zone seating capacity will be greatly reduced from it currently capacity (sans)!

  • This is the first big project the new AD Spears and his team have to get right.  Big scoreboard and much improved sound system.  The scoreboards have to be HD.

  • Yes, the second level in the end zone is to be removed with new boxes on either side of the scoreboard.

  • That's softball. It says Dot Hicks on it.  I don't think they included baseball in this round.

  • Not to nit=pick, but I'd like the person who made this PowerPoint presentation to go back and correct the Hierarchy Of Needs slide, there is a typo on it, Maslow, not Maslov, is the one who introduced the human Hierarchy of Needs.

If someone knows someone, please ask them to correct his before it gets too wide spread distribution.  IMHO, something like this is important to get right.

  • I would assume the new scoreboards will be up and the area cleaned up and dressed up a bit in terms of table, tents and umbrellas for concessions and just chilling. Then a few years down the road start the end zone seats, suites project.

I hope they place the soccer scoreboard where the current one is and not at the end of the complex as in the picture

I would love to see the soccer scoreboard placed behind the goal on the east end of the field, and the current one left where it it; adding one instead of replacing one.

Canopied End Zone areas would be great, particularly if we can put down some sufficient (meaning ---not cheap) turf to make it appear to be fan friendly (not cement) and more comfortable for the standing. This is what you see in many stadiums we visit in our league today.

Good things coming, and baby steps are indicators of accomplishing things in and over time. I'm good with that, as long as it doesn't take too long as I'm selfish and would love to see it all....

  • It would be nice to have the soccer scoreboard in the same place as it is today which is similar to the placement of Kentuckys.

However it would probably make sense to have the scoreboard behind the west goal facing East for 2 reasons. 1. Fans on the North sideline wouldn?t be able to see the scoreboard. As we grow the fan base, the university may decide to add more permanent seating to the north side which would make it even more difficult for those on that side to see the scoreboard. Kentucky does not have any permanent seating on sideline with the scoreboard. 2. The direction of the afternoon and evening sun could make seeing the scoreboard difficult if it was facing south (north sideline) or facing west (behind east goal). Kentuckys scoreboard is along the West sideline facing East. Their field runs north / south.

  • Looking west would be into the evening sun, wouldn't it?  I don't think the sun on the scoreboard would be as bad as looking into the sun to see the scoreboard. But perhaps I'm missing something.  It would just be nice to enhance the view from inside the stadium to the outside of the stadium, IMHO.  I like the park view looking toward the west myself.

  • I don't see any suites, or a beer garden. Is is just showing the size and make of the screens? Was hoping to see that project as well. That may not be their vision and only Herdnations. Looks good tho. Go Herd.

Perhaps to prevent any future mistake on this subject, MU AD Spears "needs" to dub one of these new scoreboards the "Maslow" Scoreboard!!  ;D

  • Love the scoreboard. Would like to see how they're going to integrate it with the suites.
I was hoping for something higher, and an end zone suite/beer garden like Southern Miss has.
If they put it down on the ground like that, that will kill that idea. Have to think ahead here.

Also if they do that, no clue where restaurant & brewery would go, let alone the proposed suites.

The board itself I like the look of.

I'd be just as happy if the put that size board up over the length of the shewey honestly.
Leave the current side for suites/beer garden. It would make better sense for everyone in the stadium sight lines to see it if it were above the shewey.

Plus, I know they want to start getting concerts in there. If they do, the stage likely would be up against the shewey. So the video board could be used for concert video behind the stage.
    Just some thoughts.

  • Sad to see the day where we reduce capacity. I remember people talking about how we could add an upper deck in the future when it was built. Just sucks.

Maybe they have scrapped the idea of the endzone suites and lodge seating? No way they are going to do suites and lodge seating in the endzone with a scoreboard like that.

  • If we really want a bigger looking stadium with a reduced capacity (see JMU), make it nicer, not just bigger.

Full green chairbacks (except student section)
It reduces capacity, and you can add deck/suites, loge, to other side. And end zone.
Add restaurant, brewery,(both open year round with stadium views) and a beer garden.

    Have better concourse, restrooms, concessions.
    TVs everywhere.

That's how you do it. Quality over quantity.

Make it a hard ticket to get.

We reduced capacity in the Cam as well. Far cry from when we averaged over 8k from the Huck days and over 28K in 99 for football. It is what it is.

It looks that way to me too. I guess fans want a beer section more than they want seats

Totally agree. And, if possible, a better OOC home schedule.

I understand having P5s come here can be difficult, but seeing Toledo, Miami, OH, Ohio University, WKU, etc. on future OOC home schedules instead of FCS schools would be nice.
