  • Our biggest concern right now is how can we keep Taylor and Kinsey from having to play 38 minutes or more a game. Doing that on short turn around games will be detrimental come March. I don't care what age or shape these guys are in it will wear them down over a 30 game season. Dan has to find a way to get some confidence in Early or Braun or whoever to be able to come in and give these guys a breather and things not just fall apart. Other than that full steam ahead.

I think Conner can also get some of those guard minutes.  TK, CK, and AT all handle it quite a bit for us, JC could pick up some of that load if he is in the game with 2 of the 3 primary ball handlers.

  • Like I said in another thread, if you only want to play 7, the ideal rotation would be to have Taylor, Curfman, Kinsey, and Conner share the 1-2-3 positions, with each playing 15 minutes per half; and Handlogten, Obinna, and Fricks share the 4-5 positions, with each playing 13.5 minutes per half. Obviously that is a guideline requiring some flexibility based on game conditions, but if we can continue to build first half leads, it is a realistic guideline.

Good point 2xBison -  This would work great (unless we are getting pressed) and only Cam and Andrew can handle a press - maybe Conner - not TK..... - If pressed the entire game then we would most likely need to play Early and or Braun some minutes.

  • I like Kinsey in the game if we get pressed. A team with our length needs to pass to beat the press, not dribble.  Kinsey is pretty good at getting open to receive a pass.

Which leads to the question about all of our "new" SBC foes, save for ODU and So. Miss:  How many of them play up-tempo basketball and press a lot, whether full court, 3/4 court, etc.?  I think the JMU coach plays fast paced ball, offensively.  They've put up quite a few points in some games, except when they were at UNC and UVA.  Can't quite remember whether Louisiana played that way also, when they were at the CAM last season.  Otherwise, particularly in the West Div., I'm just not sure how some of those Texas, Arkansas, etc., teams like to play.

  • Conner and Kinsey are musts against a serious press. If TK gets the ball in the front court against a press it is almost an automatic bucket. And maybe an AND-ONE if they try to stop him.
