  • Listening yesterday to his radio show said MU bowl game was in his top 3 to watch because he said he was looking forward to watching Laborn and Gilmore as he said both would be drafted.

Great to get some pub for 2 deserving players.

  • Semi-related. HD had a picture of Ali accepting his degree at winter commencement. If he and/or  Laborn don't come back we are screwed.

  • Always great to see those guys get their degrees. If football doesnt happen to be in their future , they have something to fall back on . Good job to all the athletes that take school seriously .

    Not necessarily the case.
It depends on who the coaching staff gets to fill the spots.

  • Love to see guys get their education!  I think we will be just fine at running back regardless who is back there.  That is one area I do not doubt Huff in.

It is awesome seeing the guys get their degrees.

I think we will be fine as well. Another RB will head our way if the top two leave.  Like you said about Huff he knows that area well.

  • Rbs should want to play here.  Get drafted here and get a lot of carries.

That's thought we thought when Knox didn't come back.

We have reloaded much more easily at RB than we have at QB here, that's for sure.

  • AJ Turner has all the speed and flashed enough to make me feel good should both leave. Payne even ended the year averaging 5 yards a carry. Last year the staff went after RB hard in recruiting.

I get the portal is an easy fix, but let's see what the recruits look like. Turner could be Stu Butler level of game breaking with the explosiveness.

I do think Turner can be very good. Just tough losing two very good backs in the same year. We'll see what Huff can do.

  • If it is in Ali's plan to play another year then go pro, transferring to another school seems both a lot of trouble and risky. If he stays at Marshall he knows he will get the lions share of the showcasing, he won't need to get used to a new school, staff and surroundings, he can stay where his family can see him play, and he will be revered by the fanbase. If he moves on, he'll do fine...he's a very talented back...but seems like a lot of juice for the squeezing unless he can get a nice NIL deal...which I expect we can cobble something together here.

Exactly.  So much gnashing of teeth when Ali went down, by fans here, and Laborn never missed a beat.  RB will not be our problem, assuming there is one at all.

Knox left and McDaniel got arrested and boom, Ali suddenly is the guy.  It'll be like that.

  • I have harped a lot on the offensive line this season, especially early, but as they continue to improve so will the run game.

The thing about both these backs, Laborn and Ali is their ability to make and gain + yardage as is without a great line. There is absolutely some pro potential on this MU team. Offense and defensive side
