  • Wow, I didn't know it would decrease capacity by THAT much.

They're also removing Bruce Morris's footprints which is a travesty.

I believe they will be eventually. They will have the Morris Challenge - a fan will be selected to stand where the footprints are and attempt to make a basket. If they do, they win a new car from Moses Auto.

Love the look of the new court - nice!

It is sad to see decreasing of the seating capacity. I remember that we built (and spent the money) so the football stadium could support an upper deck for a future expansion.

  • Wonder what the story is behind removing the footsteps. Can't be expensive to paint two feet.

  • Attendance is down for most schools across the country.  Not making excuses, but with covid, inflation, apathy and many forms of entertainment available it will continue to dwindle.  That's not even taking into account the demographics/population of the area changing.

Next step will probably increase the price as less seats equals more demand!!

The other school in our state posted their 4th Highest Attendance ever last year despite having a losing record.  Inability (or unwillingness) to schedule quality opponents at home and having zero games on over the air television makes us a non-entity in our own city.  We are making excuses and it is disappointing.

You are picking out one school out for an argument.  College football attendance has declined the past 7 years with the lowest average since 1981...

Ding, Ding!  We have a winner!  My guess is that is one of the driving factors.  It hasn't been that long since we were regularly getting 6000+ at the games.

  • 5467 is a small number, guess they decided to downsize the program's possibilities and promotion (hehe). Seriously, that is one small D1 arena.

  • They could easily do the challenge with Moses Auto and paint the damn feet back on the floor. That's freaking ridiculous. We don't have a whole lot of basketball traditions and that was one of them. Poor judgment by whoever made that call.

  • That's embarrassing to decrease seating that much. I guess they can talk about every game being a "sell out" now. Even though 4000 of the 5400 tickets sold will show up.

Can you imagine this or future teams, being a great team and we're gonna be turning people away at the ticket window.

Yeah, but if one other D1 school in "poor ole downtrodden, economically declining WV" can turn out huge numbers for basketball, why can't the other D1 school do something similar, attendance wise?  Is there just so much else to do in and around the vibrant and stimulating night life in "booming" Huntington?  Or perhaps the result of the loss of 30,000 people plus in the same "booming", growing City and its runaway economic growth?  Or is it a result of the caliber of the basketball program itself and how it has captured virtually ALL the hearts and minds of the City, the County, and, indeed, all the surrounding areas for a hundred, hundred and fifty miles from MU, including virtually the WHOLE MU student body itself?  Or is it all of the above?

  • Man I remember the Huck era and that place was rocking!  Students, band and the fans had it going on.  I remember we would see hackers everywhere before entering the building.  Good times.

  • I could see us in the near future replacing the bleachers of Herd Heaven with chair back seating with railings for safety.

With AC coming soon that could be some nice seating.

It could easily bring capacity back to over 7000.
