  • Overall improvement from his year one, when we were 7-6 and LOST our bowl game to Louisiana.  9-4 this season with a Bowl Championship definitely shows improvement in the right direction, albeit with some problem areas that need a lot of offseason work, attention, etc.  Still a better overall trend than what we were seeing in Doc's last year or two, IMO!!

For digging a hole and not collapsing?  He torched every bit of buzz thr Notre Dame win got us and has severly mismanaged the QB position.

  • Agree with BigJim.  Huff still has lots of work to do.  I hope he's here to do it for at least 1 more season but I have a gut feeling we've just watched his last game on the Herd sidelines.  Hard to beat 9 wins and a win at South Bend. If our offense was just average this year, we'd have been 11-2, 12-1 or maybe undefeated.  They were a horrific unit.  Imagine if we hadn't gotten Laborn (thanks Huff).

  • You would have thought we lost this bowl game with some on here attacking coach Huff.  We were up 28 and had a let down, but found a way to win in the end. We need a lot of improvement beginning with a accurate QB and a good punter. I think coach Huff has us headed in the right direction. After all we are 33 points from being undefeated!

  • Interesting season, we achieved the Herd greatest victory in any sport with the win at Notre Dame and expectations went through the roof. We had the mid season slump, but overcame it and won all our games in November plus a bowl win. No offense to you Doc boys, but the season would have gone down the tube with Doc at the helm. Huff also had to deal with a much better conference (trade off for basketball since CUSA was a better conference in basketball).

I think the fans expectations haven't been met by Huff. Bob set a high standard for MU football. I think basketball and football should be playing for championships every year. No excuses. The best MU coach is our soccer coach.

I don't think Huff will be going to a high profile job until he wins the SBC. I just hope he has better seasons with more wins.  Since I have had to do employee evaluations for people reporting to me, I would give Huff a B. I would tell him I expect more next season.

  • I would sign up for this season 10 out of 10 times.  Best a top 10 team, historical national power, win a bowl and go 9-4.  Sign me up.

Troy win the conference and will be ranked but I would bet more people know about Marshall and our win over Notre Dame then know about Troy.

Great job Coach Huff in saving the season and by the players and coaches.

So 7-6/8-5/9-4, no title and some meaningless bowl win is all you want to see for herd football? We'll, you're in the golden days of Marshall football then, have been for a while.

I hope that you are correct, E.
What was concerning for me (and probably the rest of us) is how much Fancher regressed during the extra time. If UConn had any sort of reliable offense at all, Marshall loses. You're correct about the accurate passer, we need one. UConn finally got smart and started loading the box because they were not scared at all by the Herd's air attack.

Honestly in any G5 conference unless you win it and get selected for the Access Bowl you are looking at a pre Christmas bowl game against another G5 opponent.  Being in the SBC isn't going to change that but it does change our quality of competition in the regular season.

  • People were all over Docs balls even after choking in CUSA but want Huff gone after going 9-4, beating ND and winning a bowl. Lol!

We act like this year is the only year we've had QB issues. Granted it sucks but with the exception of Cato , we haven't  been good at QB for multiple years since 2002.

Did he really regress though? He had about his normal avg game. The interception is not normal but the rest seems pretty on par aside from maybe one or two more longer pass completions.

Our wide receivers were open and Fancher  just simply overthrew them several times.

Well next year we can schedule Glenville, Campbell, Queens,  Eastern KY and some other lower level schools just to pad our schedule. You'll be good with that I am sure.

To fair, he did throw a perfect bounce pass to the right flat early in the game ;D
So he is capable underthrowing passes, too.
