  • You could argue that, but 3 of the 7 on the belt would be in cusa last year, making them have 8, and JMU would be gone, putting the belt at 3.

Nobody said the Sunbelt didn't improve itself at basketball with that move. The new cusa, is weaker, and probably about the same as the belt now and next year cusa will be a dumpster fire in all sports.

The sunbelt is still much weaker than cusa was at any time we were in it for basketball. This should be the beginning of a golden era in Herd hoops if we have the right leadership and coaches, and the fans need to get their (@/:; to the cam and make it an atmosphere that players want to come play. Players don't want to play in half empty arenas, that are so quiet they feel like practice.

Hopefully fans show up big from here on out. This could help in keeping Mica here another year or two. Kid is really starting to get confident. With his hands length and athleticism, and a year under his belt and another offseason with weights, he is going to be something to watch.

  • I wonder how many of our bench players will move on?  We really need another solid class to keep things moving and I just don?t feel good about the next one.

I like the kids they are after. I have no idea how many bench players will leave but I would expect 2-3.

If that happens I?m sure they have replacements on a wishlist?

  • The sunbelt is still much weaker than cusa was at any time we were in it for basketball.

The hypothesis that the Sun Belt is "much weaker" than CUSA, either now or in the recent past, is not supported by data. Yes, CUSA is ranked above the Sun Belt, but the gap is comparatively small. Last season, out of 32 total conferences with auto bids to the NCAA Tournament, Sagarin ranked CUSA as the 12th best and the Sun Belt as the 15th best conference. Ken Pomeroy had CUSA ranked as the 13th best and the Sun Belt as the 17th best last year.

You might be surprised to learn that this season, both CUSA and the Sun Belt have improved their conference rankings. In a composite conference ranking considering over 40 different rating systems, CUSA this year comes in as the 10th best conference, and the Sun Belt as the 13th best conference, out of 32. Interestingly, the MAC has dropped to 18th in these composite rankings.

Those same composite rankings have the Herd currently at #69 (about 30 spots better than the 2018 Elmore squad that beat Wichita St. and higher than any other Sun Belt team so far this year). CUSA's highest rated team is UAB at #55; the MAC's Kent comes in at #56.

  • Fricks will certainly be in the 7 man rotation and well he should be.

Which confirms my post, HM:  He WON'T be on the floor at the same time with Braun and Toussaint very much the rest of the season!

  • What am I missing? Creighton Thieneman #13 entered the game late, and the bench went berzerk. Was that his first ever college minutes? I felt out of the loop.

  • I'd say Early will bolt. His body language on the bench tells the story. jmo. Maybe Braun. Marko and Goran need to move on - I guess they already have their degrees?

    Exactly .

I hope D'Antoni is seeing what good recruiting does. We wasted several seasons trying to coach up instead of recruiting more talent. He wins when he's got the talent.

Recruiting has overall been bad throughout his tenure.

He's played 7 minutes in 3 games. 0-4 from the floor.
    He is Christian's younger brother.
His dad gave Marshall a lot of money to equip the basketball weight room.

  • When we play good defense we are good, when we don't, not near as good.  We have the ability to be a good defensive team and have on many occasions this year.  It makes our offense that much better.  That will go a long way in determining how successful we are this year,

Yeah, he has only gotten 3 of our top 5 scorers of all time, i mean, what a joke.

  • To be fair, Elmore landed in his lap and DD didn?t even know it until Greg White clued him in. And Kinsey is/will be top 5 due to an extra year of ball due to the Covid year. I?ll give DD credit finding Burks though.

Burks was a NQ, so that helped.

You literally just gave a "yeah but" to two of our top five scorers all time.

Dan must be the luckiest man in the world to come up with that.

They never want to give Danny credit for anything. But if it was a coach they liked it would be "well they got them didn't they regardless of how it was done".

  • well, how ever many we need in the 23-24 class i hope the staff matches or exceeds the last recruiting class., no matter the positionless position

if we win the vast majority of remaining games, maybe it'll catch the eye of a really good baller whose not happy with their present team

Sat next to those boys' father at a game at the CAM back during Christian's junior or senior year.  He was in town from Louisville with a couple of friends for the game.  He was one of the better all-around players at VA Tech back in his playing days.  Played for some good Tech teams and perhaps for Coach Don Davoe, who later had great success at Tennessee.  A real nice fellow. I didn't know of his contribution to MU's program, but not surprised based on my conversation with him.  He has his own business back in Louisville, or at least he did at the time of our conversation, and I sort of had the feeling that perhaps Christian would be going into the business with his Dad once his MU career was over.
