I saw two guys at the final Herd home football game that I swear were Doc Holliday and Mike Hamrick.
They were in disguise thus my uncertainty. The guy I thought was Hamrick was wearing a MAGA hat. That?s all I got. Make up your own mind.

  • Hamrick now lives in Winston-Salem, NC. I have heard Doc is in the WV mountains somewhere. Doc did come in last spring to be a pallbearer for my friend Mike Stapleton.

  • If Doc goes to any collegiate football games anymore, I'd bet they are in the Hole.

  • I don't recall seeing Mike at many MU sporting events other than football. Maybe a few b'ball. Only saw him at 2 soccer games - WVU, the UK NCAA game a few years ago.

I will give Mike credit. He and his brother were at most of the basketball games. They sat across the arena from me

And Doc drove 5 hours down and back in a driving rain to attend Mike's funeral. Not many men would have done that.

  • Doc and Mike are former employees now, both of their departures were not on their terms.  So I wouldn't expect them to be around for a while.

Doc is pretty much like Huff, he's not a Marshall grad.  I do give Doc respect for adding to the Marshall traditions.  In particular the run to the cemetery and embracing the memorial game.  In the past year, I've learned a bit more about coaching staffs and their players.  While Doc may never have a passion for Marshall football, I believe he will have a passion for his players and coaching staffs for the period he was here.  It will be the same for Huff when his time is up.

Mike is a Marshall guy.  It will be interesting to see if he comes back at some point.

Actually I don't think your much of a man if you don't do that. Who would not drive 5 hours regardless of weather to be a pall bearer for a friend? I would do it for a stranger if asked in that situation. Not taking anything away from him because it was great he did. But I would think any decent human would do it.

At one time not that long ago, I thought that Doc' s father was still alive.  Believe he still has family around Hurricane, but not sure if he lives there, or lived there while coaching at MU. I know he is, or was, into fishing quite a bit, and probably does do a lot of it now that he's retired.  Wish him and Hamrick both a healthy and content retirement.  They, and MU, MU fans, need to look forward, and not back!!

"Left" their positions?  They were both fired.  People who were fired don't return to support the organization that fired them.

Neither were fired; neither had their contracts renewed.  Your are fired during a contract, not allowed to complete it.  You can keep hoping and pretending they were fired, but they were not.

  • Semantics - fired, not renewed.

Both had their moments, and some not so good. Let's appreciate what both did for our school, look to the future and hope we can move forward on the field and in the Schewey.

Exactly. Technically not fired. But we do not want you anymore and won't renew so basically you are fired. And it looks like it is paying off already imo. Great decision!!'

I'm reminded if the old saying "There are none no blind as those who will not see."  Hamwreck spent a year in limbo so we didn't have to pay him a buyout.  Doc clearly didn't want to go, as was from clear with his interview with fellow Pouty Hoppy K.

If you want to dispute the obvious and split hairs with nonsensical arguments that's your  right.  It is indictive of why most of your posts are little more than pointless drivel.

I knew the Mike Stapleton situation regarding MU football/Doc very well. Doc did NOT do Stapleton any favors by giving him a token part in practices.  Something just not healthy there with his groupie type infatuation with Doc. A Total loss of perspective to the point where his own life suffered. I blame Doc indirectly for that. Some may have a different opinion but I saw it and listened to it for years and it consumed Mike Stapleton.. literally.
I do wish Mike had taken his health more seriously as I thought it sad that he wasn?t around for the ND win. Go ahead and lambaste me if you want but my guess is you were not privy to the idolatry preoccupation stuff that went on. It was so bad it affected/ended his relationships with other not so Pro-Doc fans.
