Great information on the NIL and how it affects The Herd at this moment and how it will affect us in the future. Coach Huff seems to grasp the changing world of college athletics, very impressive presentation.

At the beginning of the press conference Coach Huff mentioned one of our new portal players was contacted by coach "prime" about coming to Colorado. Coach Huff says the player is staying with his commitment to The Herd and is on campus.

I think that was a smart move by Huff. He is basically telling every coach out there, you mess with his program he is going to call you out, no matter who you are.

Coach Huff said they will announce the new signees and portal players on February 1.  I hope we find out who the portal player is that coach prime contacted, but decided to stay with Coach Huff.

Sorry for promoting our podcast in a separate thread but Coach Huff went into more detail about the ins and outs of offers to transfers from other schools and what that timeline looks like. It is different than the Letter of Intent high school signees with what is legal. We interviewed him today and the episode drops tomorrow.

Listen to the Coach Huff's press conference. He said the last day to drop or add classes at MU is Friday so a player could leave today. He also said some colleges are not starting their second semesters until another week or two so the schools are still mining the portal until their school starts their second semester.

Coach Huff said on the podcast that they are trying to keep the portal transfers secret until they are enrolled and attending class. He is afraid of other coaches trying to poach them from MU before they attend a class at MU.

Slight correction: Technically a transfer that is enrolled and attending classes could still drop through the final Add/Drop day on the university?s academic calendar and thus could be poached through that date. Some schools have a later start date in January which makes this a very real possibility for extremely late flips, even after enrollment. Transfers are not bound to their committed school unlike high school players signing a National Letter of Intent.

I was just trying to clarify for the other poster that enrollment is not the end but actually the university?s Add/Drop date. Once they can no longer drop and be off the hook for counting toward being enrolled here, then they belong to us and cannot be poached until after that semester at a minimum.
