  • Great game. Awesome overall effort. Good call by Dan to call the timeout when they cut it to 41-38.

Yes. Thankful DD has been using TOS this year.

  • Now that was fun and entertaining to watch.

Impressive performance. Man, did that ball move on the offensive end. Incredible how Dan teaches that. This team was incredibly prepared tonight. Kids played great. So glad this type of performance was put on a national stage. So proud of these players and coaches tonight.

  • great ball and player movement most of the game.  plus, play a little D, hit shots, you win.  no way S Miss is the best team in the conference- JMU much better than them!

National TV gets players up, so yes, ESPN nice to have again.

man, some of those early losses are regrettable.

  • With the Gullickson remodel I think they have 6 baskets now to practice free throws.

  • I'm going to watch the first half again, but that first 6-8 minutes looked like a contemporary NBA game---both teams.

Couple of things happened tonight which shows DD's basketball acumen.
-As others noted, two well timed TO's, one in each half and both called regarding defense (IIRC)>
-Going with Fricks in the 2nd half...interior D is more OAK's bag. DD recognized that we needed more hands & on-ball D on the perimeter. That is NOT a typical college coach move.

Conner did not fill up a stat sheet, but his perimeter D was very disrupting.

The announcers said one thing that I (pat myself on the back) noted a few games ago. Kinsey's the most improved player.

  • not always.

You are correct...this game required Frick's D on the perimeter in the second half.

OAK better be very careful or he is going to lose minutes. He is a tremendous athlete and defender but he can't miss so many bunnies around the basket and shoot FTs so poorly. Conner and Fricks will start eating into those minutes if he is very careful.

  • Handlogten is a STUD. He?s grown so much just this season alone. He?s getting a ton of confidence.

Can only imagine if he would happen to grow another inch (I think Danny mentioned in postgame comments he is only 19 and was up against a player from USM who is 24) and puts on another 20 pounds or so of MUSCLE, what the results could be!  He is athletic and coordinated for a 7-footer, not just some big, plodding and uncoordinated tall guy out there!!  Future is super bright, just hope, collegiately, that that future is in H-town!!

Anybody have any current info on how the remodeling is going and the projected date of completion for the total remodeling?

  • 26 Team assists, incredible.

I saw 2 players backing away from the FT line after their FT both were missed. No way to shoot a FT.

  • This was a total team effort.  They made the extra passes instead of taking bad shots for the most part.  Also defense was active in the perimeter and we were helping on the inside.  As mentioned, Dan took timeouts to stop runs and they did.

  • Solid win. Cleaned up some sloppy passes. We played very well the second half and didn't panic when they made a short run. Handlogten is the man, very strong hands. Let's keep it up Saturday and pound ODU.
