Part of the announcer's job is to hype the game and teams they are announcing. Last night's announcers were very good at that aspect of their job last night. I enjoyed hearing their comments, but I didn't take them seriously. That is a suggestion I'd make to those ofyou thinking we have a real shot at being a two or three bid league.
If we do become a 2 big league, it'll take a while. I think we can all agree that you have to have solid programs and SOS's to go with winning to get to the point of getting an at-large bid.
I do think there is another part of the equation to make that happen, and that is having the media that matters on your side and pumping your product (like last night). There were a couple years in CUSA that we should have had 2 teams in, but it's like the perception of the league was so bad not matter what the RPI/Net rankings showed we were doomed for one bid.
One could argue it is the same way in football. Yes, you need legit programs that are capable of winning at a high level, but you also need that media push to get you where you need to go. It's really nice being back with ESPN, who in my opinion, carries a pretty big stick.
